National School Pride (Commonwealth Grant of $125,000) is being put to good use including: pre-school and staff kitchen up-grades, painting of railings, repair of hall doors and replacement of toilet doors. Yet to come – new carpets in some areas.

Plaques unveiling on Monday July 6th – S&C to provide/cook sausages on the day (using $80 left-over grant money). Thanks in advance to Suzy Pickles, Jenny McAllister and Georgina Lagos who have offered to do this. Lots planned for the day: Sea of Hands - a permanent fixture and all made by Darlington School, Totem Poles, Assembly (with Totem Songs and Awards) and the Koori Cup Finals. Suzy Pickles agreed to ask the local newspaper “South Sydney Herald” to attend. Bingo night (also see Treasurer’s report) – Some vouchers are coming in already. $1,000 of goods donated by State and Regional Development, Aboriginal Business Unit including wonderful artwork. Tombola planned for the night too – come along and find out what it’s all about!

Next S&C meeting is on July 1st. Guest speaker, Emma Pinn, (Health Education Officer, Mental Health Assoc., NSW Inc.) will present a seminar on helping children overcome anxiety. P&C annual Conference is being held on July 31st. August 1st & 2nd. There were no volunteers from the meeting to attend. Action: Check that Federal membership is current. The Garden Grant is through ($5,000 ‘seed’ funding). S&C thanks the Garden Sub-Committee (Suzy Pickles and Kyong Choe) for all their hard work. The meeting agreed to S&C funding for repair of the staffroom dishwasher

Jenny McAllister works for the Department of Environment and Climate Change NSW and mentioned there’s a Grant of $1,000 available for schools.
