Dantes Journey

Physical Journey Circle 8.9: When Dante enters this circle he is shocked at the torture that is put upon these people. He stares at them for a long time. Circle 8.9: Virgil sees all the sowers of discord looking at Dante angrily. And Virgil notices Dante staring thoughtfully. Circle 8.10: Dante observes these sinners.

Metaphysical Journey Dante shows a lot of interest and thinks about these people a lot and is full of contemplation. Virgil gets mad at Dante for the first time in the book. And he is actually a little mean to him. Dante continues to feel grief for these people.

Throughout the entire Inferno so far Dante has pitied all of the sinners in Hell. One time he wants someone to be punished further and it is in Circle 5. He has mad a tiny bit of progress throughout the book. In the beginning he was swooning all the time. Now he doesn’t even cry anymore. In Circle 8.9 he starts questioning and observing more than he worries and pities the people.
