Assessment Study 3: Constraints and experimentation The problem:
Develop a problem/question/set of constraints for your group1
The task:
In assigned groups of three, develop a 10-15 minute performance work
The constraints: These will emerge as the works evolve, but you need to consider length of time for setup and take down, and also issues of safety The bottom line: Keep going with the spirit of experimentation, play, investigation and attention to detail that you have already developed and practised! Rehearsals:
There will be approximately 2 hours rehearsal each week during our sessions. This will include time for experimenting with and working in dark/blackout as required. I also expect that you spend at least a further 2 hours per week on the process
Assessment Criteria 1. Evidence of originality, experimentation and attention to detail in the formcontent of the work, but with a particular focus on sensitivity to audience, light, time, movement and stillness 2. Degree to which you have considered the scenographic and dramaturgical possibilities and implications of the work, and particularly in relation to the experience of the audience 1
This will probably occur over time (ie it doesn’t have to be the first thing you do)

3. Self-assigned (it must, however, be observable by your assessors), but probably relating to your (emergent) problem/question. The idea here is for it to reflect the interests and concerns you develop throughout your rehearsal period. These need to be submitted (after discussion) one week prior to the performance
Assessment Week 12, Thursday 17 December (6.30 – 8.30pm). Technical rehearsals are scheduled for Wednesday 16 December, 6.30pm (TBC)
Assessment breakdown for AS3 1. Second marker assessment – 22.5% of final mark 2. SE assessment – 22.5% of final mark 3.
