Your task: Arrange the diamond shaped cards to form one large diamond with the crime that your group considers the worst at the top and the least serious crime at the bottom. Discuss the crimes carefully and consider the impact of the crime on the victim and the victim’s friends and family. Is rape worse than murder for example because the victim has to live with it for the rest of her/his life? Having considered the rank order of the crimes, complete the attached sheet with the sentences that your group agree to be appropriate for each crime. You must keep the sentences in line with current law in this country. There is no death penalty for example. One member of your group must record the discussion on the sheet provided and another will have to report back to the full class and justify your group’s decisions. Make sure you give him or her plenty of reasons to justify your decisions.
