A CREDIT CARD IS A SYSTEM OF PAYMENT NAMED AFTER THE SMALL PLASTIC CARD ISSUED TO USER OF THE SYSTEM . IT IS A CARD INTITLING ITS HOLDER TO BUY GOODS AND SERVICES BASED ON THE HOLDER’S PROMISE TO PAY FOR THESE GOODS & SERVICES.

HOW

CREDIT CARD USE IN HOTEL



WHEN AGUEST PRESANT A CREDIT CARD,THE FRONT DESK AGENT CHECK THE CREDIT CARD’S EXPIRATION DATE .



AFTER CHECKING THE EXPIRE DATE OF THE CREDIT CARD, THE FRONT DESK PERSON SHOULD MAKE SURE THE CREDIT CARD IS NOT LISTED AS STOLEN OR OTHERWISE INVALID.



IN PROPERTIES WITH OUT ON- LINE CREDIT CARD AUTHORIZATION , THE FRONT DESK AGENT SHOULD VALIDATE A CREDIT CARD BY CONSULTING THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY’S CURRENT CACELLATION BULLETINS.



THE HOTEL CAN REFER TO PREVIOUS CANCELLATION BULLETINS TO PROVE THAT A CREDIT CARD NUMBER WAS VALID AT THE TIME THE CREDIT CARD WAS ACCEPTED FOR PAYMENT.

INVALID CARD 

FRONT DESK EMPLOYEES SHOULD FOLLOW ESTABLISHED FRONT OFFICE AND CREDIT CARD COMPANY PROCEDURES WHEN A CREDIT CARD APPEARS TO BE INVALID.

IF A GUEST PRESENT A CARD THAT SHOWS STOLEN THE FRONT DESK AGENT MIGHT BE CALL HOTEL SECURITY. THE HOTEL ATTORNEY SHOULD PROVIDE ADVICE ON HANDLING INVALID CREDIT CARDS & ON THE HOTEL’S VULNERABILITY TO RELATED LOWSUITS.

FLOOR LIMIT 

CREDIT CARD COMPANIES MAY ASSIGN HOTELS FLOOR LIMIT. A FLOOR LIMIT IS THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT IN CREDIT CARD CHARGES THE HOTEL CAN ACCEPT WITH OUT REQUESTING SPECIAL AUTHORIZATION ON BE HALF OF A CREDIT CARD HOLDER.

DENYING A CREDIT REQUEST 

WHEN A FRONT DESK AGENT DISCOVERS THAT A GUEST HAS A POOR CREDIT RAITING HE/SHE MUST EXERCISE EXTREME CARE IN DENYING THE GUEST’S CREDIT REQUEST.

WHEN A CREDIT CARD ISSUER REFUSE TO AUTHORIZE A TRANSACTION: 







DISCUSS THE MATTER WITH THE GUEST IN PRIVATE. USE CARE WHEN DESCRIBING THE GUEST’S UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTION. OFFER THE USE OF A TELEPHONE TO HELP RESOLVE THE MATTER WITH A CREDIT CARD COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE. ALLOW THE GUEST A CHANCE TO PROVIDE ALTERNATE ACCEPTABLE MEANS OF PAYMENT.

CREDIT CONTROL 

CREDIT CONTROL REFERS TO THE VARIOUS MEASURS TAKEN BY A HOTEL TO ENSURE THAT GUEST SETTLE THEIR ACCOUNTS IN FULL AT AN AGREED TIME.

WHY CREDIT CONTROL IS NECESSARY ? 

HOTELS LIKE ANY OTHER BUSINESSES, NEED TO HAVE A HEALTHY CASH FLOW IN ORDER TO SERVIVE & SUCCED, & TRY TO ACHIEVE THIS BY EXERCISING CONTROL OVER THE CEDIT GIVEN TO GUESTS. THE CASH FLOW OF A HOTEL IS THE MONEY WHICH MOVES IN & OUT OF THE BUSINESS.
