DEFINITION Creativity is the ability to generate new ideas or perceive things in unique way. Creativity is related to thinking process. There are mainly two types of thinking process  Analytical thinking  Creative thinking

It is logical & leads to unique or few answers which can be implemented.

It requires imagination and leads to many possible answers or ideas

Analytical Thinking  Logical  Unique answers  Convergent

Creative Thinking  Imaginative  Many possible answers or ideas  Divergent

 Self imposed barriers  Patterns or unique answers  Conformity  Not challenging the obvious  Evaluating too quickly  Fear of looking fool

Consciously or unconsciously we impose barriers to our thinks, processes which are difficult to recognize (Exercise-I) Now join all nine dots with four straight lines without taking off the pencil

Analytical man establish patterns to find right answers, and then reluctant to establish other patterns that may equally exists. (Exercise-II) A…………E what will be the position of F B C D 1) On top as A & E are made of straight line and B C D are Curves.

Conformity is followed by patterns as managers feel that they have to confirm the patterns established by their colleagues . (Exercise-III)

Lack of effort in challenging the obvious is a response known as “automatic no” which reject any new idea automatically.

Everybody has capacity of evaluating ideas & which is applied instinctively when ideas are put forward & that is with “automatic no” response as the idea is slightly offbeat.

Nobody likes to be laughed at and therefore avoid putting forward silly or wild ideas
