Dear Senators and Representatives: Pursuant to the last update, enclosed is the summary of the Department’s initial review of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TW1A) claims handling processes. The results of this review have been shared with the General Manager of TWIA. Jim Oliver. In the upcoming months, the energy should be oriented toward making the claims process for TWIA the best customer experience possible. TWIA policyholders should expect nothing less. The TWIA board, with members to be announced in the near future, will need to adopt and embrace this task along with the Department in ensuring that we meet this strategic goal and all tactical milestones along the way. The Department will continue with the additional reviews mentioned in the report and keep the Oversight Board informed of any findings, TDI action, or recommendations.
