Cory and Ninoy It was indeed a poignant epic story of two human beings bound by destiny to be as husband and wife legendary heroes. Their life story would be more than appropriate to fill in the pages of history books and would aptly be immortalized in form of a novel, replete with plots ranging from political, drama, action, comedy, espionage, a love story even; a kaleidoscope of themes so to speak. A job well done for the husband and wife team namely Cory and Ninoy. My hat’s off to both of my idols. It’s only sad to think that both of them are now but gone and just memories, but memories that will linger in our hearts and minds forever. I hope it’s not only their legacy that would live on forever but the realization of the legacy that they left behind for us Filipinos. But even as we dwell on their legacy, we have to dig in deeper and try to dissect what is the true meaning of what had transpired through all these years; that is through the eyes of Cory and Ninoy. Have'nt you notice that since EDSA Rev Uno (I was in a way part of that point in time in history), did the Philippines really progressed? Even though we pride ourselves as Filipinos of having a Cory and a Ninoy to boot with versus the global community, mukhang hindi pa din natuto ang Pinoy. If we compare ourselves with our neighboring SEA counterparts, eh napag iwanan na tayo ng milya milya. We were the innovators and proponents of progress here in Asia during the bygone years, but today, we are the whipping boys of Asia. It's really sad to lament on these issues. But I believe even if the Philippines can produce a million Ninoys and Corys, nothing will happen, coz the real problem is the people themselves and the culture ingrained within. Filipinos are fond of being part of history, kaya isang damakmak ng tao ang nasa daan. They want to be there as part of the Filipino history only as a fixture (very superficial). Though I know that there were really well meaning and sincere souls that joined the burial and the interment, pero hanggang dun na lang ba? Hanggang face value lang ba? Eh yung ibang tao dun eh walang ginawa kundi magpa kodak ng magpa kodak just for souvenirs and para masabi that they were part of history. Some even were only there for the business side, even others for politicking. I think we should transgress on the superficialities of these events and concentrate more on what is the real meaning and message of what really happened so the the death of our heroes will not go into waste. We are so short sighted with a short memory. After this event, what’s next my dear fellowmen? Back to our old self and our old ways, ningas cogon ika nga. Nasa kalooban ng bawat Pilipino and tunay na pagbabago. The honest to goodness change should emanate from each and every one of us. It entails sacrifice and commitment if we really want a positive change in our society today. And here comes 2010, election na naman. Is there really a person out there who is worth and willing to take the Filipino people to the next level and lead us to Shangrila? Is there a true Filipino out there or are we just a bunch of self serving lot? May Pilipino nga bas a mundong ito?
