Hello, my name is Leydi Godoy. I am 15 years old, I may just be an eleven-grade student, but today I am here to talk about the lack of empathy focused more on this school environment because I consider that everybody must have a little bit of empathy because it represents solidarity between humans. But first, you will be asking why I am here, and the answer is easy, with my opinion I just want to let a small grain of sand in your minds, well, a less make a reflection about your own daily life. In our cotidianity we know a lot of values that since we have memory have been taught to us and that define our way of being, values such as respect, honesty and many others but in fact not much is said about empathy. Do you know what it is? I am sure that many here know its meaning but only a few really recognize the importance that it has, for those who don’t have a clear concept of this probably heard the phrase "Put yourself in the shoes of the other", this ability that we have is known as empathy, that is what allows us to understand, help, support and motivate our nearest, is to understand that the other person also feels, thinks, has problems, makes mistakes and all the other things that make a human being a person. Obviously, it is not necessary to be living exactly what the other lives, but how many of you at some moment in your life have found themselves in a very difficult situation and thanks to some interaction with a close person helped you to overcome it. Even if it is a simple greeting, smile or hug you can totally change the day of someone who needs it. Of course, there are people who can't feel a tie because of psychological disorders, but that doesn't prevent us as "healthy" people from being able to help. But today I come to propose a general conscientization about the value that everyone can have, independently of age, gender, religion, you are valuable as you are.
