Question: Do you find yourself applying the principles of contextual learning while doing case-base learning project? Was social interaction a context in your learning? Read and digest the knowledge in Chapter 8, then discuss in this forum. I am waiting for your views

I find myself applying the principles of contextual learning while doing the case-based learning project. According to contextual learning theory, learning occurs only when students process new information or knowledge in such a way that it makes sense to them in their own frames of reference (their own inner worlds of memory, experience, and response). The mind naturally seeks meaning in context by searching for relationships that make sense and appear useful. For an example, I applied ‘hands on experience’ term while doing the case-based learning project. I assigned the students to relate the lesson based problem with their own frames and involve themselves completely in the activity in order to design an useful learning environment which incorporates many different forms of experience, including social, cultural, physical and psychological. This will concrete their understanding in learning. Yes, social interaction was a context in my learning. According to Vygotsky, social interaction played an important role in cognitive development of students. Interacting with other people has proven to be quite effective in assisting the learner to organize their thoughts, reflect on their understanding, and find gaps in their reasoning. Different forms of collaborative learning can create ideal circumstances when examining the impact of social interactions on learning.
