“SREEPADAM HOME STAY” Welcome to “Sreepadam Home stay” at KochiKerala State-INDIA.“SREEPADAM”(meaning the abode of the Goddess Laksmi-the Hindu deity for wealth) is a theme house built by Usha & Venugopalan, thirty years back at Cochin( now Kochi ) as their family house .The house is now thrown open to tourists/ guests from all parts of the world as a HOME STAY, while on tour or visit at Kochi. SREEPADAM is located 25 KMs from the Kochi(Nedumbasseri )International Airport on the Alwaye –Ernakulam State High way. Ernakulam city ,Railway Station/Bus Terminal etc are hardly 6KMs away. The house designed by well known artist/sculptor/writer M.V.Devan of Kerala, is unique in many ways. Built in the Laurie Baker style on RCC belt foundation with exposed country clay baked bricks, local teak wood doors/windows and glass in about 4000 sq ft- is spacious cool and aesthetic in style/ construction. The red brick walls are not plastered; so there is very little radiation heat even in the worst of summer. The house has a new look even after 30 years of use.
SREEPADAM is decorated both inside and outside with cement mortar relief of gods/goddesses, wall mural of a festival across the drawing room RCC beam and tantric drawings , relief work using glass and silk saree pieces, imaginatively by famous Artists Namboothiri and Vijayaraghavan(late) of Kozhikode. The villa has four spacious A/c bed rooms with attached western toilets. Two kitchens and two spacious drawing/dining rooms add to your comfort All this come at a modest tariff of US $ 50 or Pound Sterling 25 or Euro 30 per room/day on twin sharing basis for bed and breakfast. The whole villa can be booked for US $ 200 per day-discounts are available for longer bookings. Lunch and Dinner can be ordered from a number of nearby restaurants/hotels.
