CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK Conceptual framework of symbolic representation of a theory which often express abstract ideas in a more readily understandable and precise from ( Polite and Hungler, 1997). Conceptual framework is structure around the king’s theory of goal attainment put fore ward by Imogene king. The major components of the theory of goal attainment are stated in king’s interpersonal system in which two people are usually stranger come together in a health care organization to help and be helped to maintain a state of health that permits functioning roles.

For study, School children - is one who is studying in an school in order to get knowledge. Researcher – one who assesses the knowledge of school children regarding child abuse and its prevention. The main components of this theory is: Perception: It is defined as such persons representation of reality. The researcher will be able to perceive to provide what knowledge actually is their in children mind regarding child abuse and its prevention. Perception of the children can be considered unrealistic or misconstrued. Goal setting: It involves the development of an action plan designed to motivate the children toward a goal. Goal setting is a major component of personal development and management literature. In the present study goal setting is to improve the knowledge of school children regarding child abuse and its prevention. Action: The fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim. In the present study preparation of structured questionnaire. Interaction: It is defined as a process of perception and communication between person environment and between person and person represented by verbal and non-verbal communication. As researcher and the subjects have increased interactions during interview time. There is an greater opportunity to develop trust. According to Kings are acts of two or more person in mutual presence. It helps to build the relationship between the researcher and subjects. In the presence study the interaction takes place between school children and researcher. Transaction: It is defined as observable behavior of children interaction with that environment. Gain in knowledge that will take place after the video assisted teaching programme to meet more goal attainment. In this study, the transaction is the outcome of school children knowledge regarding child abuse and its prevention.

SUMMARY This chapter dealt with the introduction to the problem, need of the study, statement of the problem, objective of the study, hypothesis, operational definitions, conceptual framework of King’s attainment theory.
