job applicants. The process comprises five interrelated stages. 1. Planning. 2. Strategy development. 3. Searching. 4. Screening. 5. Evaluation and control. Comparative Study of two Recruitment Advertisement published in TIMES OF INDIA (ASCENT) dated 11/03/2009

Source: http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Daily/Skins/Ascent/section.asp

Company Name: Yahoo India Type of Ad: Colour Ad Area: 875 sq cms

Cost: Rs 11, 63,750 /Position: Front page (bottom) Attractiveness: More Attractive as bright colour is used Picture: More creative and eye catchy picture Visibility: More visible & clear as it covers half of the page Headline:” No gathering or get to-gather, yet 6 million conversations everyday” Feature: Very attractive headline, use of brighter colour and covers half of the page. Location of company logo: At the end Job Description: Not mentioned Designation: Specified Clearly Salary Structure: Not mentioned Contact mode: Via mail

2. Description: Black & White Advertisement

Source: http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Daily/Skins/Ascent/section.asp

Company Name: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited Type of Ad: Black & White Advertisement Area: 384 sq cms Cost: Rs 4, 53,120 /Position: Last page (bottom right) Attractiveness: Comparatively less attractive as it is black& white And small in size Picture: Clear but not eye catchy Visibility: Clearly visible Headline:” Steer the evolution, Transform your career” Feature: Attractive headline, proper & clear display of information i.e. designation and job specification Location of company logo: At the end Job Description: Mentioned Designation: Specified Clearly Salary Structure: Not mentioned Contact mode: Via mail

Conclusion Based on the comparative study we have concluded that the colour advertisement of ‘Yahoo! India’ was not formally structured i.e. the job description, salary structure was not mentioned on clear terms and the font was also very small yet it is more attractive and appealing due to the picture and catchy headline of the advertisement. The black & white advertisement of ‘Hindustan petroleum corporation limited’ in comparison with the colour ad is less attractive yet the structure of the ad is well constructed i.e. the job description and designation details were clearly stated. The analysis states that, though the colour ad is not structured well in terms of job details but it is more attractive because of its picturisation, tagline and location i.e. front page

The black & white advertisement is well structured in terms of job description and designation but comparatively it is not attractive because it is black & white and placed on 4th page.
