February 7, 2017 Assignment No. 1
1. Internet databases could be very much the end of online privacy. In a global age where social media has taken storm, everyone wants to sign up. This makes everyone vulnerable to the information they share with the developers. Requiring fields like, name, birthday, email address, etc. is very valuable to them and if you don’t give them yours, you won’t be able to access their site. 2. I believe the government should enact laws to prevent the sale of information gathered in internet databases. As a consumer myself, I don’t think I would feel safe if most, if not all, malls, shops, and/or stores know how I behave and consume goods. I don’t think I would be able to shop comfortably. I also believe that the government should pose rules and regulations on how much internet databases collect information. 3. Like I said, everyone wants a social media account and to join, you need to fill up all of the required fields. These required fields are mostly personal data and there’s no stopping people if they really want to join. To lessen personal data available in the internet databases, I think people should change their behavior of sharing a lot of videos or links on Facebook. I think the videos you share says a lot about how you think and feel and if collected and interpreted by the wrong people, they could figure out a lot more about you and use it against you. I also think that people should lessen posting about their feelings.
