(ii) Cognitive developmental stage of the learner that I have chosen. The learner that I have chosen falls under formal operational stage. Khehla is a 15 years old boy who is very corporative. According to Piaget this stage of development requires abilities to reason abstractly and to coordinate a number of variables. This stage begins around 12 years and continues through adulthood; Piaget says abstract reasoning is the primary source of this stage. At this stage learners or students they no longer use objects for reasoning At this stage it is about the ability to think logically and think about things that are not able to be touched or measured and difficult to describe or explain. Concrete object are no longer used at this stage .In the formal operational stage a student approaches the problem in a very systematic fashion generating and testing an idea that attempts to explain some thing but has not yet been tested or proved to be correct. Khehla as young boy has started to realize his education as he is playing rugby he is very much concern about getting a scholarship to improve his education and to better his situation. After the game he will always ask the question how I performed sir. Even if he did not do well in particular learning area he will be very worried and to know what went wrong what he did not do correct. His reasoning abilities are above his level of understanding. At this stage the student manipulate information in an effort to eliminate possible solution to the problem.Khehla says he always think about his family background and always ask himself questions. He goes to an extent of asking his grand father some of the questions trying to originate his background. He also acts like an adult in way that he is always ahead of the class. He always wants to show other learners how things are done if asked to do so.
