He has also tried to snare me on the meaning of (Isaiah 9:6) citing that this verse clearly proves the trinity, as it refers to Christ as the Mighty God, but I can't help thinking this has something to do with this proxy authority that Jesus has presently until all is subdued and Jesus is subject to his Father. Isn't Jesus supposed to guide us to the Father as our mediator and pattern son? Is it possible to idolise Christ over God? I'm just tossing around these thoughts with you Mike as I know you can receive them in the spirit that they're offered. I just want to know what the truth is in any circumstance where God is concerned, because I don't want to be a stumbling block to anyone, nor cause unnecessary strife, but I must stand where it is pertinent to stand for the true gospel and call a spade a spade. Hi J____, You are exactly right about Isaiah 9:6: Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Christ has been "given a name that is above every name." Php 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: But the operative word in that verse is the word 'given.' It was the Father who "gave" the Son a name which is above ever name. The only 'names' which are above every name are the names 'Father' and 'Almighty God.' How is this done? We are told exactly how this is done, but I fear that this will be lost on your trinitarian friend. Here is how Christ was given "a name which is above every name:" Gen 41:39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Gen 41:40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. God has shown Christ His entire plan. "Only in the throne" is the Father greater than Christ. That phrase "only in the throne" gives the lie to all the lies of the doctrine of the trinity, which insist that Christ is "co-equal" with the Father. The Father is "greater than Christ in the throne," and Christ Himself says so: John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come [again] unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. If Christ has eternally existed, then that would not be so. Any doctrine which denies that the Father is not "greater than I am," to use Christ's own words, is an "idol of the heart." Christ's " subjection" to His "greater" Father is how the All in all is accomplished: 1 Cor 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God [the Father] may be all in all.
