Arteries
Definition: Strong, elastic blood vessels that carry nutrient- and oxygen-rich blood from the heart to body organs and tissues.

Arterioles
o o o o
Largest Diameter Thick Walls Smooth Preveins blood presure
o Medium to small sized arteries o Supply blood to smaller arteries
o The smallest arterie. oConnects with the capillaries.
Movement of the blood
Vasoconstricition: Contraction of muscles , decrease of vessel diameter and flow.
Vasodilation: Relaxation of the muscles, increase of vessel diameter and increase of blood flow.
Capillaries
Definition: Tiny vessels that connect arterioles and venules; the exchange of nutrients and fluids between the tissues and blood occurs through the walls of these vessels.
Veins
Definition: Blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart. The smallest vein (in diameter) is called venule.
They may contain valves to prevent the blood to flow toward the feet in response to gravity.
