God od created families (Gen 1&2) God calls the church His family / household (1 ( Tim 3v15)

Have a look at the following small selection of verses. Can you summarise the Bible’ss teaching on families – biological and church? Matt 10v34-37; Mark 3v31-35; 35; 1 Tim 3v4-5; 3v4 1 Tim 5v8

The church was planted 8 years ago and after some false starts, it has experienced a great deal of church growth in the last 2 years. During that time church membership has rised from 20+ to 50+ and attendance at Sunday morning services has gone from 50+ to 80+ with many new families joining the congregation. The problem is that those who have ve been at the ch church longest feel that the church has lost some of the friendliness it once had. Before the growth, everyone knew everyone else, there were strong friendships and people cared practically for one another. N Now the church is bigger it is harder to know everyone well, harder to feel aan important part of the church. Is this a problem? Why / Why not? What would you recommend? Why?

The Bible has much more to ssay on this subject, this is just a quick glance!

Our society makes us think like this:

Should we think more like this?

Belonging to a Family 1 Corinthians 12v12-27 • We are united together (v12,13)

We are responsible for each other (v14-20)

We are dependent on each other (v21-27)

Session 2:

We are family!

What do you enjoy about being part of a church family? What do you find difficult? Do you feel like you belong? In what way would our Christian lives be poorer if we weren’t a part of a church family? How can we help visitors on a Sunday morning gradually understand that ‘church’ isn’t so much about services but a family of believers who belong together?

For personal reflection: What have you learned or been reminded of? Is there anything you want to bring to God in prayer? Share with the church? Talk to the elders about?
