WEEK 3: ACTIVIES:

DOING:

GOAL(S): Students will begin their individual group research and begin to put together their presentations. Monday The students will be presented to two different types of documentary films. One made from a Western perspective and one from the African.

Tuesday No Class

Wednesday Students will have this time to work in their groups and put together their presentations.

Thursday No Class

Friday Students will have this time to work in their groups and put together their presentations.

Students will be examining documentary type sources. Students will disseminate the differences between Western and Non-Western perspectives within these prevalent sources.

Students will be working inside the classroom. Each student will access to a computer and materials they will need to put together speech materials (Posters, transparencies, etc.)

TEACHING:

Teachers will show the film and open the floor to discussion about the films. After both films have been shown, the teacher will discuss with the students the differences between both sources.

Teachers will walk around the classroom, sit with students, discuss what students are discovering, and to facilitate progress.

WHAT IS LEARNED?:

Students will learn how to examine documentary sources and take information from them. Students will see how different views express bias.

Students will begin to put together their projects and learn about their individual assignments. Right before students leave, they will fill out a report listing what they accomplished and any concerns they have in regard to their progress and projects.
