SOCIAL SOFTWARE IN THE CLASSROOM BLOGS AND PODCASTS DESCRIPTION: Social Software has revolutionised the internet enabling users to become active rather than passive. This practical workshop will provide teachers with a quick overview of social software before launching into an in-depth look at two tools – blogs and podcasts. We will look at the merits of using these tools in the classroom and provide time and support to get started. Teachers should leave this workshop with: a clear idea of the purpose of a classroom blog and the confidence to blog a working knowledge of podcasting and some ideas for integrating podcasting into class programmes COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES: • Overview of social software

KIDS CREATING DIGITAL GAMES DESCRIPTION: This workshop will briefly examine current research and practice around kids designing games for learning. Participants will grapple hands on with a range of programming and simulation software aimed at promoting understanding through the creation of games. Teachers should leave this workshop with: - a deeper understanding of the possible merits of gaming in education - a working knowledge of game making tools - an understanding of the role of the teacher in the game making process - integration ideas for getting started with game-making

Year 2 PRT DESCRIPTION: The focus of this workshop will be on enhancing teaching and learning with ICT.
