Tragedy (Chicky Lounge) Submitted at 10/3/2008 5:00:00 AM

Every wonder what would bring a person to take their own life? We hang on a delicate thread everyday no knowing what the day holds whether or not it will the last time we see our loved ones. But, putting fate in your own hands and taking your own precious life...I don't fully understand it. It could be because my life is very precious to me, every breathing moment is a celebration that I'm still here and able to hug my kids and talk to my mom or fight with the man in my life. Because the thought of suicide is so strange to me, I decided to do some Internet searches and see what I could find. I ran across http://www.metanoia.org/suicide/, on this site there is a statement that stands out, "Suicide is not chosen; it happens when pain exceeds resources for coping with pain.” The site goes on to say, " That’s all

it’s about. You are not a bad person, or crazy, or weak, or flawed, because you feel suicidal. It doesn’t even mean that you really want to die - it only means that you have more pain than you can cope with right now." WOW. I guess some people have a harder time than others dealing with the obstacles life presents and they feel like they just can overcome it. The way I see it, God challenges us everyday and he puts no obstacle in front of us that he knows we can't overcome. I know you're sitting there wondering why I'm writing about suicide. I'm not suicidal - so we're good there. I have actually been following the story of the NY Police Officer who ordered another officer to taser a mentally ill man in Brooklyn who was naked on a 10 foot ledge. When tasered the man looked like he spasm and fell to his death. Lt. Michael Pigott, 46, who had been on the force for 21 years, was the officer who issued the order. It should be known that according to

department figures, city cops fielded fully 87,000 calls last year involving emotionally disturbed persons. And, before last week's tragedy, police had used Tasers 180 times this year without a single fatality. This one case was just one of poor judgment and appears that the decision weighed heavily on Lt. Michael Pigott's mind, as he committed suicide. He left a suicide note reportedly said that he feared devastating consequences for his family were he charged criminally in the death. Suicide is has very devastating consequences for those left behind. I only wish Lt. Pigott had seen hope in his situation, something he did not. My prayers go out to his family and I hope that Lt. Pigott has found peace.************************* *************** by Myra Roldan, Blogger/Editor At Large Chicky L o u n g e http://chickylounge.blogspot.com Founder /Owner, Beautiful Diva http://www.beautifuldiva.com

One good bra (Chicky Lounge) Submitted at 10/3/2008 5:19:00 AM

Breast Cancer Awareness Month focuses on our ta-tas. I know I love my ta-tas. I do monthly self-breast exams and went to my first mammography last year after a small scare. As my small mass fatty mass was being squashed by a gigantic machine, I had to draw my mind elsewhere. I started thinking of bras. You know as you get older, and I am getting older, something happens to our ta-tas. They stop defining gravity and simply decide to go give in. They slowly start moving downward. If we aren't careful, they could end up by our ankles. Nothing a good bra can't fix. I was lucky enough to recently receive some Warner and Olga bras from Brandy DuBreuil of Kaplow. She sent me 3 bras, and Elements of Blissware underwire bra, and 2 Olga wire-free bras. I just have to tell you, first off all they fit like a glove. These bras are outstanding. I've been wearing them for a little over a month and they are giving my Victoria's Secret bras a run for their money. Talk about comfort. These bras put my girls back up where they belong and they look good in my clothes. I think every girl needs a good fitting bra. It will not only bring your girls back up but it will also improve your overall image. If you have big Ta-tas, you should get fitted for a bra first, to make sure you find the right bra. Don't skimp on price either, your girls will thank you for it. Cheap bras.

But I leave you with one important bit of advice......You should not wear a bra for a long period of time. Recent studies show that when the breasts are free and allowed to move with every step you take, it has a massaging effect on the lymphatic flow and thus cleans the breast of toxins and wastes that arise from cellular metabolism in the breasts. One Harvard study published in 1996 by Singer and Grismaijer found was that the odds of getting breast cancer dramatically increased with bra-wearing over 12 hours per day. * Women who wore their bras 24 hours per day had a 3 out of 4 chance of developing breast cancer (in their study, n=2056 for the cancer group and n=2674 for the standard group).

* Women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day but not to bed had a 1 out of 7 risk. * Women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day had a 1 out of 152 risk. * Women who wore bras rarely or never had a 1 out of 168 chance of getting breast cancer. The overall difference between 24 hour wearing and not at all was a 125-fold difference. Just food for thought.*********************** ***************** by Myra Roldan, Blogger/Editor At Large C h i c k y L o u n g e http://chickylounge.blogspot.com Founder /Owner, Beautiful Diva http://www.beautifuldiva.com

Getting around your neighborhood with Google Maps By Eric Case (The Official Google Blog) Submitted at 10/8/2008 8:02:00 AM

When I moved to the Bay Area last year, everything was new to me. I didn't know Los Altos from Los Gatos, good eateries in my neighborhood, or how to get to where I wanted to go. Whether you're moving to a new area, traveling to a new place, or simply exploring a new part of town, this may sound familiar to a lot of people. There's a simple solution: turn to Google Maps to find local information. We've gathered a lot of useful info about local businesses so you can find everything you need in one place. You can find neighborhoods and see if they're close to downtown, parks or other places of interest. If you're moving into a new home, you can look for nearby supermarkets, hardware stores, restaurants and other places that will help you settle in. Almost every business listing includes the phone number, website, store hours, price and more. Most also have user reviews and photos. And it turns out I wasn't the only one who turned to Google Maps to learn more about my town. Watch this video to see how Google Maps helped Ryan, a fellow newcomer to the Bay Area: Even if you know your hometown like the back of your hand, odds are you'll want to go somewhere new at some point. Not only can you find out the address of a specific location and get directions to it before even heading out the door, but you can virtually explore the neighborhood with Street View (available in many cities in the U.S., Japan, and Australia), or check out live traffic conditions. You can also use the "Send" feature of Google Maps to text the address to your phone or email directions to friends. Watch this video to see all the things you can do: And don't forget, with Google Maps for mobile, you can access all of this great information on the go. Posted by Cathy Tang, Google Maps and Earth

How dumb is Sarah Palin Really.......? (Chicky Lounge) Submitted at 10/2/2008 8:19:00 PM

We've heard the jokes begin cracked about the fact that Sarah Palin can see Russian from her backyard. On September 11th, during an Interview with ABC's Charles Gibson, Palin said, ""They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska." So how true is this? I'm not the best at geography so I had to do some research. Turns out that Alaska and Russia share water space and are divided by the Bering Strait, which is about 55 miles at its narrowest point. In the middle of the Bering Strait there are two islands: Big Diomede, which sits in Russian territory, and Little Diomede, which is part of the United States. At their closest, these two islands are a little less than two and a half miles apart, which means that, on a clear day, you can definitely see one from the other. Sarah Palin does not reside on either of these islands. During the Cold War, the New York Times published an article that stated, "if

you stand on high ground on the tip of St. Lawrence Island—a larger Alaskan island in the Bering Sea, southwest of the Diomedes—you can see the Russian mainland, about 37 miles away. The same article claims that you can see Russia from the Tin City Air Force facility at Cape Prince of Wales, which is the westernmost point of the mainland Americas. The station chief at Tin City confirms that, for roughly half the year, you can see Siberian mountain ranges from the highest part of the facility." Again, Palin is not in any of these areas and if she was, she would not be seeing much as she would only be able to see the tip of an island that is populated with less then 55,000 people. So this still supports my claim that P a l i n i s a n idiot.************************** ************** by Myra Roldan, Blogger/Editor At Large Chicky L o u n g e http://chickylounge.blogspot.com Founder /Owner, Beautiful Diva http://www.beautifuldiva.com

Someone forgot to tell my mom.... (Chicky Lounge) Submitted at 10/2/2008 8:12:00 PM

For the first time in her life, my mom bought a new car. Now mind you it has been close to a year already. She is whizzing around town in a cute champagne color Toyota Corolla. Very reliable car, a thought I that let's me sleep at night. So, yesterday my mom decided we would swap cars for a few days to give my car a rest. I drive close to 100 miles a day. This simple event has changed my life forever. My 9year old and I had to run out around 8 pm last night and it was cold and drizzly. We ran to the car - my moms car and then it hit me! Someone forgot to tell my mom that when you buy a new car, YOU CAN GET

POWER WINDOWS and POWER LOCK! I've always had power windows and powder lock so I've taken this simple commodity for granted. That is until last night when I was struggling to unlock the back door in the cold and rain for my little girl! I can express the experience in two words - "IT SUCKED!" I think it's a conspiracy, she just wanted to drive a car with automatic e v e r y t h i n g f o r a change.************************ **************** by Myra Roldan, Blogger/Editor At Large Chicky L o u n g e http://chickylounge.blogspot.com Founder /Owner, Beautiful Diva http://www.beautifuldiva.com

We The Kings... (Chicky Lounge) Submitted at 10/4/2008 4:44:00 AM

Last year, for my 15 year old's (Stephanie) birthday I purchased tickets to a multi-band concert that was going to be held at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT the night of her birthday. We had a great time, I took pictures with all the bands alone and the girls and I took group pictures with band members as well. I have to confess, I'm the biggest kid when it comes to stuff like this. The music was great. We went with one intention...to see " Boys Like Girls". During the concert, I got to meet and chat with Travis the lead singer of an upcoming band, " We the Kings". Travis took a picture with me he was sweet enough to almost kneel for me as he's like 6'4" and I'm all of 5'4". I asked Travis how it felt to be in the presence of a Queen(me) and a bunch of screaming little girls? His answer, "It's amazing, I mean I'm just

a goofy kid myself". Fortunate for Travis and his band, goofy kids growup a bit (hopefully not to much) and they find success. I was driving in my car this morning listening to the radio when I heard, "Check Yes Juliet", by We The Kings on the radio and it was on the Weekend Top 30! You made it Guys, all your hard work is paying off. I wish you all much success and always remember to be real in all you do. Catch you again when you are back in Connecticut! Sick of Palin! (Chicky Lounge) Submitted at 10/2/2008 8:06:00 PM

I usually don't get worked up over politics, but Sarah Palin's dumb-ass has sparked a twitch in my left temple every time I hear her speak. The woman is a F%$king Idiot. Did someone forget to tell her that this is not a pageant? I mean is she serious? The woman can give a good answer to any question thrown at her. How could she possibly manage being Vice-President. With our luck, if McCain were voted into office he probably would croak before the inauguration in January; leaving us at the mercy of Sarah Palin. The thought just makes me nuts. I mean the woman can't

even keep her own home in order you have a child with special needs who requires YOUR attention and a 17-year old who is pregnant. Now, I'm no one to judge on this last topic as I had my first child at 18 - BUT, my mom was not running for President; she was running from job to job. Can someone please escort the Alaskan heffer off the stage please and put the tape back over her mouth.************************ **************** by Myra Roldan, Blogger/Editor At Large Chicky L o u n g e http://chickylounge.blogspot.com Founder /Owner, Beautiful Diva http://www.beautifuldiva.com

BEVERAGE CADDI is back... (Chicky Lounge) Submitted at 10/3/2008 7:42:00 AM

A little bit ago, I wrote about one of my favorite products the Beverage CADDi. If you missed it you can read a b o u t i t h e r e , http://chickylounge.blogspot.com/200 8/08/caddi-for-your-coffeeanyone.html. I get stopped by people daily asking me about my personal CADDI - which by the way will be my stocking stuffers this year. Sorry gave that one away. Anyways, I have Google alert me anytime there is some news about "Chicky Lounge" my blog or my newspaper. Today I was alerted and was tickled. There is a networked called, Women who Launch and they did a post called "Members in the News", now I'm not a member (although I've launched more than I care to admit), but Barbara Hranilovich, creator of the Beverage Caddi is and this is what they wrote

about my little article: • West Michigan Incubator member Barbara Hranilovich, designer of the unique Beverage CADDi, was written up by Chicky Lounge in a fun and radiantly positive article about the beverage carrier system that works as a coffee cup sleeve and a coffee purse (sling). Now take notice, my article was dubbed "fun and radiantly positive". So for the rest of the day I will be floating around with my big head because apparently, I don't suck too much at this writing thing. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! (Chicky Lounge) Submitted at 10/2/2008 8:03:00 PM

Breast Cancer Awareness and Research is a cause near and dear to my heart. Because of early detection, my aunt, Nydia is a breast cancer survivor. During the month of October, Beautiful Diva will do it's part in the fight against breast cancer. Purchase a breast cancer awareness accessories and we will donate the profits to raise funds to help women receive free mammograms. Each year it is estimated that nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than

40,000 will die. Approximately 1,700 men will also be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die each year. You can take control of your healthcare by developing an early detection plan and encouraging others to do the same. Remember—early d e t e c t i o n s a v e s lives!************************** ************** by Myra Roldan, Blogger/Editor At Large Chicky L o u n g e http://chickylounge.blogspot.com Founder /Owner, Beautiful Diva http://www.beautifuldiva.com
