Chemical Reaction Encounter Everyday
• Rusting
rusting is called as oxidation. Oxidation is a chemical process where metal gains oxygen and become oxide. In rusting the Iron ore make a chemical reaction with the oxygen in the presence of water and environmental or atmospheric moisture to produce an Iron oxide. Iron oxide is otherwise called as rust.
• Charging of Cellphone
Batteries are small containers of chemical energy. When a cellphone is plugged into the mains, electricity is used to reset a chemical reaction within the battery, transferring electrons from the negative anode to the cathode – the positive end of the battery or the charging current produces electrical charges which cause the substances in the battery to unite, with this the attraction of positive and negative charges for one another.
• Eating
Chemical reactions take place in our body too. For example, digestion involves reaction of acids and food. During the digestion, the food we eat is broken down into smaller molecules. Also, in digestion of food proteins, fats, and carbohydrates decomposes to simple substance that provide the energy we needed to study or to do work.
• Cooking
Chemical reaction result in the formation of new substances, and the changes that occur cannot be reversed. When we are cooking of an egg, the heat from frying an egg causes the egg's protein to change permanently in texture and in appearance through a process called denaturing and the egg become solid and also we can’t bring it back to raw egg.
• Ignition
Ignition is the process of providing the energy that is required to initiate a combustion process. When hydrocarbons interact with molecular oxygen to combust, it requires what is known as activation energy to do so the minimum energy needed to activate a chemical
reaction. And also the lpg is liquid so if we are going to turn the gas stove, it will set fire or what we called ignition.
