Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have only ever had one home ground, Stamford Bridge, where they have played since foundation. It was officially opened on 28 April 1877. For the first 28 years of his existence it was used exclusively by the London Athletics Club as an arena for athletics meetings and not at all for football. In 1904 the ground was acquired by the business man Gus Mears and his brother, J T Mears, who had previously acquired additional land with the aim of staging football matches on the now 51,000 m² Stamford Bridge was designed for the Mears family by the noted football architect Archibald Leitch. They offered the stadium to Fulham Football Club, but the offer was turned down. As a consequence, the owners decided to form their own football club to occupy their new ground. Most football clubs were founded first, and then sought grounds in which to play, but Chelsea were founded for Stamford Bridge. Since there was already a football club named Fulham in the borough, the founders decided to adopt the name of the adjacent borough of Chelsea for the new club.

Introduction

We are Lluis Gabriel, Victor Martinez and Alex Morral and we did a little project about an england football club, Chelsea. We did this work because we like football and this sport is the most famous sport around the world. Chelsea FC, Arsenal FC, Liverpool, are the most famous clubs in England and they are rivals. Our work are centrated on Chelsea FC, because is the london football club and it’s more easy to visit his ground. Also we chose chelsea because, in our opinion, plays better than Arsenal FC or Liverpool.

Personal Opinion

Our topic is an football club, Chelsea FC. Speak about a thing that we know, is more agreeable, not a tired thing. When you choose a thing that you like, the project do that we strain more than we choose a thing that we don’t like. Alse is a way to know a bit about culture of London, and the city. Lluis, Victor and me would like to go to visit the Chelsea ground if is possible in the time we are in London. This project also is a way to know about us and a little preparation for future work on following courses.
