Employment History 1989 – 1992/1999 - 2003

English Teacher

Throughout both of these periods I was employed as an English teacher to young people in mixed ability classes, up to intermediate level and Cambridge 3, using set books, videos and tapes. Monitoring performance and writing reports was also my responsibility for keeping updated records on all students. I also undertook sessions within factory situations giving English lessons to managers and their assistants on a one-to-one basis. I also gave private tuition to adults individually, mainly at beginners level, but also responding to their needs when moving to proficiency both in conversational and written contexts.

1992 – 1998

Community Worker

In this voluntary position I helped with the day to day running of the centre, covering general catering duties, befriending, reading & writing mail for clients when required, giving advice about facilities available to homeless persons and referring to Social Services department when necessary.

Interviewer

While in this temporary position I was responsible for interviewing older residents in Strathclyde for a Hypothermia Campaign, which also allowed me to target and assist the more vulnerable members of the community with any health issues they may have been concerned about.

I gained a B.A. Degree in Modern History and English Studies.

Hobbies/Interests In my spare time I enjoy keeping up correspondence with friends still abroad, surfing the net and taking long walks throughout my local countryside. I also try and spend quality time with family and friends.
