Background Note “In August 2008 an online publisher’s website (“NERE Press” at MySpace) began issuing copies of Bckpg by Mackinaw Spoon. Absolutely nothing is known about this individual except that he’s written some other books. The publisher has contacted us, and remains cooperative; but appears to know very little, and has refrained from making public comments. The text has been mentioned in the press, and on television. Blogs are forming around it. The text’s download count is reaching ten thousand, and download has spread to several other sites linking back to NERE Press. “It is this officer’s recommendation that M. Introductory Note The contents of this dossier point to the present culmination of my re-investigation into the murders occurring in June 2008 at what was formerly known as The Morning Glory Bed & Breakfast in St. Louis; what has become known as “The Horror Hotel.” My name is John, but no one’s called me “MH” since I was a kid (sparing you the story). I’m communicating under this pseudonym to protect myself. My colleagues are following suit. The case dubbed “The Horror Hotel” has been closed for almost a year. Painful as it is, I’m quickly coming to accept that we may have gotten it wrong the first time around.
