CALL FOR DISTINGUISHED INTERNATIONAL VISITOR PROPOSALS Distinguished International Visitors Fund – total of $10,000 available annually The International Institute, with generous support from the Division of International Studies and Global Studies, announces a competition for Distinguished International Visitor proposals. Distinguished International Visitors are persons who will bring high visibility to International Institute programs and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The visitor must be of interest to more than one International Institute program and will usually be in residence for at least one week but generally not more than one month. Interest in an outreach event to the public is also highly desirable. Distinguished International Visitor Proposals should include: • • • •

A short description of project that details the activities of the visitor A short biography of the visitor, including a brief CV A project budget that shows matching funds (if appropriate) and the total amount requested (see financial guidelines) Please be sure to include the International Institute programs involved and a contact person (including email address).

Funds will be available after July 1, 2009 and must be spent by June 1, 2010. How will proposals be evaluated and selected? A five-member faculty committee will review and recommend to the director the most promising proposals. Four members will be nominated by the International Institute Strategic Planning Committee and approved by the International Institute Academic Planning Council. The Associate Dean of the Division International Studies will serve as the fifth member of the committee. Faculty serving in leadership roles in development applications may not serve on the committee. Where should proposals be submitted? Please submit proposals electronically to Associate Dean Guido Podesta’s Project Assistant at [email protected] no later than 4 pm on February 13, 2009.
