CHRIST FOR AFRICA MISSION Issue 11 & 12 / 09 Dear Prayer Partners:

November/December 2009

HAPPY THANKSGIVING … HAPPY HOLIDAYS “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”

Job 23:10 KJB

The “gold rush” has begun, as we enjoy the rich, vibrant colors of autumn leaves! In fall foliage season the sight of bright gold, blazing orange, and fiery red can take our breath away. It’s as if the Creator swept His brush across the landscape, painting the trees in vivid colors. What spectacular beauty, from the rustling golden aspens of the Rockies to the amber, russet and crimson foliage of the New England woods. Hunting for Fall Color isn’t the only search for “gold”. Literal gold, the precious metal has been an obsession and persued for centuries. During the California Gold Rush in 1848 over 300,000 prospectors travelled by covered wagon or sailing ship to seek their fortunes. In today’s recession, prospecting is back as some folks are panning for gold dust and nuggets in hills and streams to try to supplement their income. Others just enjoy the thrill of the search, when they spot a glimmer of gold sparkling in the sun … it’s a “Eureka” moment. Many people are trading their gold jewelry for cash. Through the ages, people have sought this valued metal. Searching your concordance or computer, you’ll find many references to “gold” in the Bible - for ornamental purposes as well as a means of exchange. From its use on sacred items in the sanctuary, to the sinful golden calf idol, you’ll discover a lot on gold. In His word, God uses gold as a symbol. His Law is more precious than gold. (Ps. 119:72). The Psalmist writes, “I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.” (Ps. 119:127). Proverbs counsels us to choose knowledge rather than choice gold. (Proverbs 8:10b), and says that wisdom (16:16), and a good name (22:1) are better than gold. God compares Faith to gold. Here at Christ For Africa Mission, our purpose is to help guide searching people to the true, eternal riches that Christ offers us in His precious Word—the spiritual gold of faith that is priceless and can’t be taken away! Leading people to Jesus Christ, our loving Lord and Savior, is our calling and privilege.

We are so grateful for your prayers and financial support. We simply could not carry our mission forward without the help of ministry partners like you. Your donations and gifts are critical in helping us share the everlasting gospel in these last days with searching people in Southern Africa. We live in serious times. Fiery trials and difficult times test our faith. How reassuring to know that God uses these experiences to mold, refine, and purify our faith for His Glory. Gold can be destroyed, but true faith, far more precious than gold, endures. “I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; …” (Rev. 3:18a).

Rom. 10:15

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
