National Scoping Project
Consumers Speak: Seeking a National Voice The Australian Government is seeking to establish a new peak national mental health consumer organization. This project provides the opportunity for mental health consumers, mental health consumer organisations and groups to reflect on achievements of the consumer movement and also on the difficulties and challenges it faces. Importantly, it enables discussion of how the mental health consumer movement might move forward nationally and shape its own future. Ideas will be sought about principles, values, structures, organisational models and business rules that could soundly govern the new body and provide stability and sustainability. Creative thinking and looking outside the box is encouraged. A wide range of consultation forums and activities will be conducted nationally.
Phase One has is now complete. Phase Two is about to commence.
Queensland Health Mental Health Branch in partnership with ‘A Way Ahead Queensland’ is conducting a consultation forum and you are invited to come along and share your thoughts and ideas. A discussion paper will be tabled on a National Mental Health Consumer Body. If you live outside Brisbane or can’t make it in person, then why not teleconference into the forum to have your say. The call is only the cost of a local call and you can participate from anywhere within Queensland. For those in Brisbane: call 3815 0080 and for those outside Brisbane: call 1300 301 336 You must all enter the passcode 205161# when prompted.
