USC CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE CITIES 2009 Summer Undergraduate Research Program
This small, select, and intensive program involves working with faculty, post-doctoral associates, and graduate students on a specific Center research project. This year, the program’s focus is on the Center’s newly launched Initiative on Cities and Climate Change, which entails both in-depth research and the organization of informative activities targeting the following areas: cities and greenhouse gas emissions; climate change and environmental justice; and cities and carbon reduction strategies. Students involved in collaborative projects can benefit from a varied experience, including research, fieldwork, interviews, community meetings, and report preparation. Students work closely with senior doctoral students and faculty who provide daily supervision and guidance. Students are expected to attend project team meetings and are encouraged to attend any relevant seminars or conferences being held during the research period. Any student in good standing and enrolled in the College may apply. Applications must include the following: • • •
