Directors Message
Shelly Winters Black
I would like to thank everyone that have contributed to the success of the Miss Camellia City Pageant. As we celebrate the 1st year, I look to the future with great hope and excitement. Pageantry is a positive and rewarding hobby that can lead to great things! It helps the contestant develop their individuality at the same time, learn the secretes to winning the crown. As a former contestant, the skills that I have learned through the art of competition has been a tremendous influence for my career as a pageant director. Titles that I have won over the years were Mrs. Gretna 1993, Mrs. Kenner 1994, Mrs. Jefferson Parish 1995, Mrs. Orleans Parish 1996, The journey to the CROWN has been filled with many positive points and the friendships have been the most rewarding thing that I take away from the field of Pageantry. My staff is the best in the state and have been with me since the beginning. Peggy Labit, my auditor and assistant , My sound people Glitter N Gold, Greg Livaudais Photography , Thank you Sammy Steele, Chantel & Heather Autin for their continued support. A special THANK YOU to Brian Apple white & Chris Cerullo for their professionalism for the past Ten years. To the staff of the Slidell Little Theatre, thank you for allowing me to host The Miss Camellia City Pageant at your beautiful Theatre. In 1992 I began my Journey To The Crown as a contestant in the Mrs. Louisiana America Pageant and met the woman that became my mentor and spiritual inspiration. Mary West, was the reigning Mrs. La and was giving up her title. She became the state director for both Miss New Orleans and Mrs. La America Pageants. Our friendship continues to strengthen and has blessed my life in so many ways! A Huge THANK YOU to this year’s distinguished panel of judges for both the day & night events and to this year’s sponsors, Thank you to my assistant’s Christiania Black & Tracy Lynn Dillon. In closing, I would like to say thanks to my Husband Sean that has stood by me and supports all my endeavors and allows me to DREAM! I love you and thanks for being my best friend. To My son, Robert, You continue to amaze me with your genuine heart and I am so blessed to be your mom. Thanks for sharing these special moments with me. To the Contestants and parents of the children contestants, Thanks a million for allowing these folks the opportunity to peruse the CROWN from the Miss Camellia City Runway. Yours In Pageantry, Shelly Winters Black

Are you a pageant mom who loves the see her kids radiate with joy under the spotlight and wants to spread the joy to other parents and relatives? Hi I'm Shelly Winters Black, Many people from different walks of life can catch the Pageant Directing Bug. I caught it many years ago as a contestant and winner of many titles in my home state of Louisiana. If you are driven to participate in the pageantry field then I know how you feel. The building excitement as the contestant prepares for the show. The rush as she steps on the stage knowing the first impression is the ONLY Impression. Then the wave of exhilaration hits you like the heat from an open oven on Thanksgiving Day. WOW! You could cut the LOVE in the room with a butter knife. Launching a career as a Director of Beauty Pageants gives you the power and satisfaction to generate this kind of energy like no other pursuit. If this is your dream then you need to purchase The Complete Director’s Kit…
