FREEDOM UNDER CONSTRUCTION Organising Team Recruitment Drive

Calling Leaders Freedom under Construction is a demonstration of our will to write a better destiny for our nation - better than the one we inherited. At BHUMI, Independence Day is an occasion for celebration unlike any other. It is a time for us to revisit the enthusiasm and pride we felt as children, when we saluted our national flag. Over the years, the enthusiasm waned; responsibilities of adulthood clipped our wings of desire and clouded our sense of idealism and Independence Day became another holiday in the long list. A glorious nation is a product of our collective actions as a society. Let us celebrate Independence Day as a joy filled festival it is and work together towards building the great nation of our dreams.

Impact 2006-2008: We have built three class rooms, five toilets and laid foundations for 12 class rooms with our own hands. Our efforts have helped provide better infrastructure for 1500 government school children in Rasoolpura Government School and Zilla Parishad High School – Kosigi (Mahboobnagar).

Freedom under Construction 2009: This year for Freedom under Construction, BHUMI proposes a massive plantation drive - lakhs of trees will be planted across Andhra Pradesh. The future will be free! Freedom from want of Water and Food, a Freedom to live a healthy life. We will mobilize large numbers of volunteers to plant trees; educate citizens on importance of being aware of our responsibility in nurturing our environment. This activity is being organized in collaboration with forest department. Green soldiers will plant Lakhs of plants starting on 15th August and culminating on 22nd August'09 World Green Day. Plantation will be taken up in government and private institutions, residential colonies, companies, colleges, along pavements and individual homes. We will also build 2 class rooms and 5 toilets at a Government School. The marathon construction activity will be conducted from 00:00 hrs to 24:00 hrs on 15th August. This unique event will also be a Fund Raiser for several NGOs working on various causes in the city, to the likes of the 10K Runs organized in other cities of India.

The objectives of Freedom Under Construction this year are:      

Raising the collective environmental consciousness of Indian citizens. Enabling people to take on concrete action towards making a positive difference to the environment by being part of the tree plantation drive. Planting a large number of trees in a week. Bringing together the government, civil society organizations and citizens groups in such a activity Provide a better studying environment to government school children by building classrooms and toilets for them. Organizing a massive fund raising event for NGOs across the city

How can you help?  

To mount this event at such a massive scale, BHUMI is on a look out for 50 Leaders who have the potential to organize such an event. The organizing team would be a representation of various sub teams looking after the functional domains such as… Strategic & Planning, Mobilization, Marketing, Branding, PR, Collaborations, Fund Raising, Finance, Logistics, Operations and Technical.

The team formation process  The Team would be recruited in the following major categories  Organizing Team  Support Team  Consulting Board.  To enroll, first fill in the form on the website www.freedomunderconstruction.com, with your interests and preferred domain.  After filling out the form you need to come to the BHUMI office, for a small interaction that will help us place you in right team, matching your interests and competencies.  A brief induction of the team would occur on 15th July, which would include details about BHUMI, its vision and work, Freedom Under Construction and this Initiative.
