THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT
TODAY’S FOCUS – Third Sunday of Lent: Wisdom that offers guidance on how to achieve a goal, such as wealth, is prized. Many people who prize such wisdom, however, see wisdom that gives guidance on how to live with regard to God and to others as a waste of time. Let us, as children of God, prize and live by the wisdom that leads to eternal life, even if others may think of us as foolish. SCRIPTURE READINGS We need God’s Word each day. This is an excellent opportunity to meet the Seminarians as they share their stories of responding to God’s call. This visit is free. Pre-School and Kindergarten Parishioners who have children who will be age-eligible for preschool and kindergarten for the 2009-2010 school year were mailed an information packet to complete and send back to the school. If you are a parishioner with a child who will be 3, 4, or 5 by August 31 and you did not receive a mailing, please call the school office immediately, 2316941. The Office will be closed the week of spring break, March 16-20.
FOOD PANTRY Wesley House, our local food pantry, for the second year in a row, has been given the opportunity to double any gifts of food or money donated to them during the months of March and April. Mr. Alan Feinstein, Cranston, RI, has announced that he will match any donation of food or money contributed to Wesley House; they will receive $1.00 for each pound item or dollar. If you wish to donate by check, please make it payable to Wesley House and have “Feinstein” on the memo line. For your information. ***Our parish has supported the Wesley House food pantry for years. It is a great way to centralize the distribution of food in our community. This eliminates the duplication of efforts. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wichita subsidizes the salary of a full time social worker, Alberta, at Wesley House. This is just one of the ways the Catholic Church provides assistance to those in need in the Pittsburg area.
Please remember to name Our Lady of Lourdes or St. Mary’s Colgan Schools in your will. May we leave a legacy of faith and education for the generations to come. Please consider informing Fr. Tom or the parish office of your legacy plans,

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS “You shall not covet” is perhaps a difficult commandment to keep in our consumer society. But as Christian stewards, we know that we are the recipients and caretakers of God’s many gifts. May this understanding that all is gift help us be less resentful of the gifts of others. VOCATION PRAYER Father, I abandon myself into your hands; do with me what you will. Whatever you may do I thank you; I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures. I wish no more than this, O Lord. Into your hands, I commend my soul; I offer it to you with all the love of my heart, for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself, so surrender myself into your hands. Without reserve, and with boundless confidence, for you are my God.
