SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT
TODAY’S FOCUS – Second Sunday of Lent: Are we listening to Jesus? The Father told us so clearly that this is what we are to do. GIFT—PARISH MISSION THE LENTEN JOURNEY TO EASTER “Growth in Discipleship” What a great opportunity we have to attend our Parish Mission on March 29-April 1. The Mission facilitator will be Fr. John Lanzrath. Many of you know Fr. John from his time as Director of the Spiritual Life Center in Wichita. On the first day of the Parish Mission, Sunday, March 29, the GIFT committee will host a soup dinner in the Activity Center at 6:00pm. The Mission will begin at 7:00pm. Dinner is free of charge but please register for the dinner—invitations are being mailed this week to all registered parishioners. Please turn in the registration card to the parish office or collection basket, or go online to register, www.ourladypittsburg.org. Monday thru Wednesday the evening sessions will begin at 7:00 pm. Tuesday’s session will include a Parish Penance Service. Babysitting provided for children under 5 each evening of the Mission. Join Your Parish For Spiritual Renewal & Celebration! STATIONS OF THE CROSS Join our parish in commemorating Jesus’ walk to Calvary, each Friday during Lent at either: 2:30pm with the elementary students or 7:00pm with Benediction to follow. “Yet it was our infirmities that he bore, our sufferings that he endured, while we thought of him as stricken, as one smitten by God and afflicted.” (Is. 53:4) Encounter With God’s Call, held March 28-30 at Conception Seminary College, is a discernment retreat for young men age 16 and older who are considering the vocation to Priesthood. This is an excellent opportunity to meet the Seminarians as they share their stories of responding to God’s call. This visit is free. FOOD PANTRY Wesley House, our local food pantry, for the second year in a row, has been given the opportunity to double any gifts of food or money donated to them during the months of March and April. Mr. Alan Feinstein, Cranston, RI, has announced that he will match any donation of food or money contributed to Wesley House; they will receive $1.00 for each pound item or dollar. If you wish to donate by check, please make it payable to Wesley House and have “Feinstein” on the memo line. For your information. ***Our parish has supported the Wesley House food pantry for years. It is a great way to centralize the distribution of food in our community. This eliminates the duplication of efforts. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wichita subsidizes the salary of a full time social worker, Alberta, at Wesley House. This is just one of the ways the Catholic Church provides assistance to those in need in the Pittsburg area.
Please remember to name Our Lady of Lourdes or St. Mary’s Colgan Schools in your will. May we leave a legacy of faith and education for the generations to come. Please consider informing Fr. Tom or the parish office of your legacy plans,

St. Paul reminds us that God Himself “did not spare his own son.” Are my gifts to the Lord — of my resources, of my time, of myself — also sacrificial? VOCATION PRAYER My God, you call forth people to do your will as needs arise. I want to serve to the best of my ability. Help me use the talents you have given me to help your people, who cry for peace, justice, and life’s necessities. What are you calling me to do here and now? I am listening my God.
