MOST HOLY TRINITY

TODAY’S FOCUS – MOST HOLY TRINITY: On this solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity we affirm our faith that God exists as a Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, united together in a oneness of love. HE IS WAITING FOR YOU! We are blessed to have over 250 people signed up for Holy Hours of Adoration. Thank you to all who have made this choice to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament! We now have every hour from 6 A.M. Monday to 5 P.M. Friday covered by at least one guardian but several of these hours are still in need of a second guardian. If you haven’t signed up, please consider taking one of these hours as the second guardian/adorer. Having two people for each hour makes for more dependable coverage and potentially eliminates the need for substitutes. “A Holy Hour before the Most Blessed Sacrament repairs for evils of the world!”

PILGRIMAGE TRIP The choir of Our Lady of Lourdes is planning a much requested pilgrimage to Rome, Florence, Assisi and Pompeii in 2010. It will be March 9 through March 18, and it will be a spectacular trip. The Choir will be singing at a Vatican Mass, presenting a concert in Rome, and attending a Papal audience! This is truly a journey of a Lifetime, so start planning NOW!

RECEPTION FOR FR. RUBEN The ladies of the Altar Society will be hosting a reception for Fr. Ruben on Sunday June 14th after each of the Sunday morning masses in the High School Commons. You are invited to come by and greet him and wish him well in his new assignment as chaplain at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. We are grateful for his presence with us this past year.

The Most Reverend Michael O. Jackels extends to you a special invitation to the Seminarian Recognition Dinner. You are invited to meet these men who are currently in seminary formation and recognize their gift of stewardship to our diocese, the gift of themselves. (We have three from our own parish in the seminary: Josh Evans, Gabe Greer and Zack Compton; John Fogliasso is From Sacred Heart Parish, Frontenac.) Saturday, June 27, 2009 Memorial Auditorium 502 N. REFLECTIONS ON LIFE “Stem cell research opens new prospects for regenerative medicine and is morally permissible when it uses stem cells taken from adult organisms, but not when it takes cells from human embryos because that invariably causes their death.” (The Dignity of a Person, Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, 12-08) TEENS ENCOUNTER CHRIST WEEKEND: High school juniors & seniors, and adults who work with youth in this age group, are invited to attend a Teens Encounter Christ weekend. TEC is a spiritual retreat designed to help you become more aware of the presence of Christ in your life. The next TEC weekend will be June 6-8 in Hutchinson. The deadline for signing up is May 11. The cost is $70. Call 316-269-3900 for information & applications.

TAKING A BREAK! The Parish Folk Group provides music for the 10:30 am Sunday Liturgy. As in the past, the summers are difficult for them because of vacations and other commitments with their children so they take a break. They will resume when school starts in August. We are very grateful for their generous spirit in sharing their time and talent to provide beautiful music for our liturgies. Under the direction of Pat Jones with the assistance of Mike Elder they have been providing music at Our Lady of Lourdes for over 20 years. Thank you one and all. We will have congregational singing with the organ through the summer at the 10:30 am mass.

Please call the rectory and let us know. We have Eucharistic ministers who go to the homes on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month in the morning. The priests take care of the residents in the nursing homes. Call the rectory and let us know if a family member, friend or neighbor is homebound or has gone to a nursing home. It is important for us to minister to these people. Please help us keep our Communion list up to date.

Parker Uniforms will be here on Monday, July 13th from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Elementary Commons. Used uniforms will also available to buy at that time. Please take advantage of the 10% off all merchandise sale from June 9th to the 30th. Pre orders may be picked up at the fair, to save on shipping charges. BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS: Teenagers can have high blood pressure, too! In fact, people of any age can develop it. Why not get yours checked? Even if it’s normal, it’s good to know what your reading is. The Health & Wellness Ministry provides B.P. checks after all the Masses next weekend (2nd weekend of the month).

Weights for 7th & 8th Jr. High Boys will start this Monday, June 8th, 8:00-9:30am in the weight room. We will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday for six weeks. High School Weights will start next Monday, June 15th, and will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 6:15am.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS Today’s second reading reminds us that we are the adopted sons and daughters -- the heirs -- of God. We are good stewards of our inheritance when we share our faith and fulfill Our Lord’s command to “go...and make disciples of all the nations.” VOCATION PRAYER Dear God, grant that we may be signs of your love in the world. We pray that you continue to fill men and women with the courage to follow the path you set before them. May those called to serve as priests, deacons, brothers, sisters, members of secular institutes, and lay ministers be blessed with the passion and vision to make the world a better place. Amen.

Senior pictures and videos may be picked up at the rectory during business hours, 8:30-5:00, Monday thru Friday for the next two weeks. The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, Clyde, MO, invite single women, ages 18-49, who are considering religious life, to spend July 8-14 with them and experience monastic life. Take time to live life in a contemplative monastery, deepen you prayer life and meet others who are discerning a call to religious life.
