Café Impresso Café Impresso, a Print/Graphic Art shop and a Café, is a new outreach of Community Church Brazil. Roberto Goncalves and Jeff Turner work together to create print/graphic art projects and are establishing a reputation for good quality in the community. They are able to make copies and create documents not only for community businesses, but also for the ministry. The coffee and traditional food served at the café is quickly becoming popular around Carpina — and is a great meeting place for everyone after church. The opportunities for reaching out to businesses and people in the community are vast. God is drawing people through a cup of coffee and a Xerox copy.

MINISTRIES

Church Planting Telêmaco Moraes is the President of World Renewal Brazil which is a church planting ministry in Northeastern Brazil. Although there are many facets of the ministry, its main focus for the past 13 years has remained on planting churches to draw unbelievers to Christ and to disciple new converts. Currently the ministry has planted nine Community Churches, assisted in planting two Baptist Churches, and has several other small group Bible Studies that hope to be developed into churches. The mission statement of World Renewal Brazil embodies this purpose: “Reaching the lost and maturing believers through the planting of churches in Northeast Brazil.”

Bible College The Seminário Bíblico do Nordeste (SBNE Northeast Biblical Seminary) is a Theological Seminary that provides theological training in practice and academics, for people who feel God’s calling to the ministry. It trains students from several different genuinely evangelical denominations, but focuses on the training of Community Church pastors and leaders. Community church students must be serving at a local church. SBNE offers four year degrees, equivalent to the bachelor of arts degree.

Outreaches The ministry’s main focus is on Church planting, but it does not neglect the need for other forms of outreach. World Renewal Brazil often has evenings of Street Evangelism and other structured meetings. The ministry works to employ the gifts and abilities of members found in each of the churches for these events. The agenda of the outreach usually includes testimonies, preaching, music, puppet, or mime. WRB has always made a point to follow up with and disciple individuals who have made a decision for Christ.

Living Stones Children are important. They influence families and grow up to become community leaders. WRB has a program that not only reaches needy children, but also families and friends. The program began in 1998 under the name Growing Kids Project to help needy children. For three hours a day five days a week, children are loved, fed, tutored, played with, and taught a Bible lesson. At present, very few projects are being regularly sponsored. Two Living Stones projects have been temporarily suspended while efforts are made to restructure the projects.

International School The International School of Carpina is an outreach ministry to the upper-middle class that brings in revenue to further support church plants. The school began with preschool and kindergarten students in February 2006, the beginning of the school year in Brazil. The morning program consists of a preschool and kindergarten, while afternoon classes offer English tutoring for students ages 5-9. The school plans to add new grade levels each year to eventually be a complete elementary school. One of the main attractions of the school is the comprehensive English courses taught by native speakers. Scholarships are offered to those who can’t afford tuition.

Short-term Mission Trips Short-term Mission Trips are a fundamental part of World Renewal Brazil ministry. These groups encourage those who are in the ministry in Brazil and are platforms for evangelical outreach. Trips can range from camps to construction projects. Groups usually minister in January and July. See the Short-term ministry brochure for more about how you can get involved.
