Protest of FBE on 2010 Sham Election of Junta. To all the Burmese Patriotic Democracy Activists residing in Europe, The illegal military dictators of Burma had forcibly approved their constitution in 2008. That constitution foresees and guarantees the military leadership in the national politics, that the military is above the Nation, above the Law, and the Nation will forever serve the military as their slaves. That constitution is not accepted by the population at large and does not guarantee democracy and human rights and also denies the ethnics' rights. Following up the constitution, the military is preparing to hold the election in 2010. The future of the country is facing the lack of rule of law. The EU must not accept and recognize the 2010 election on condition that the NLD's demands to the UN are fulfilled by the military dictators. We therefore demand the following which we fully support the NLD's demands: 1. To review and revise the sham constitution ( in line with NLD’s demands ). 2. To reject outright the 2010 election. 3. Without preconditions, to free Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners immediately. 4. Not to weaken current EU Common Position so long as the military regime fails to move towards peaceful, all inclusive and time-bound transition to democracy and to respect human rights in Burma.
