In 1991 more then 7,500 people nation wide had bone marrow transplants.

Depends on disease, stage of disease, age, level of match, and condition of disease.

Depends on how great the conditions was. Without a transplant most patients will die, 6 months- 1 year for system to fully recover.

More then 80,000 people are waiting for a bone marrow transplant. On average 16 people per day die waiting for a bone marrow transplant.

Medical Conditions? The medical conditions that would require someone to be placed on a list for bone marrow is a disease that interfere with productions of the blood cells like leukemia and aplastic anemia.
disqualifications for giving? •
cant give: - if you have HIV, AIDS, arthritis, auto immune disease like multiple sclerosis, history of spine fracture in 2 years, back surgery in 2 years, flu in 2 years, late stages of cancer, breathing problems like COPD, emphysema, sleep apnea, heart disease, kidney problems, if your on certain medication, and under weight or over weight.

At most transplants centers the age limit is 55 for allogenic bone marrow transplant.
The patient needs to be healthy enough to undergo the procedure. •

How long is the procedure? Bone marrow transplants are not surgical procedure.
They put a needle in your hipbone/pelvis and remove the marrow (one hour). It is an outpatient procedure. •
