Sachin: A Billion Dreams And M.S Dhoni: An Untold Story Comparison by Kashvi Makhija India is a nation that lives, loves and breathes cricket , still it took almost half a decade to come up with the first cricketer based biopic. Sachin: A Billion Dreams, a biopic on star cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Directed by James Erskin, the documentary featured videos from Sachin’s personal collection and starred Mikhail Gandhi in the role of a young Tendulkar who won hearts of many fans. Similarly In a cricket-loving nation, a biopic on star wicketkeeper-batsman-captain of the Indian cricket team, Mahindra Singh Dhoni got a lot of takers. The film starr ed Sushant Singh Rajput and other co actors like Disha Patani and Kiara Advani. .The facets of Dhoni’s life included his personal life (his ex-girlfriend and wife) which has never been revealed before. Sachin’s film first shows Sachin's childhood while also focusing on his transformation as the 'God of Cricket' till his first world cup win. However in contrast Ms Dhoni the movie begins with a scene of the 2011 Cricket tournament Finals in which we see MS Dhoni, India's captain, walking out to bat after Kohli's wicket and the rest of the movie is more of a throwback depicting his journey from his early years up to that moment. Sachin found his liking for cricket at an early age ,however Dhoni was spotted by a cricket coach while goalkeeping in a football game. He invites him to try out for the school cricket team as a wicketkeeper and selects him after being impressed. Dhoni improves his batting and becomes an everyday member of the team. Right opportunity at the right time was what got him to this realisation about his liking for cricket. Depression and dark days are portrayed in the lives of by both these individuals , Sachin was depressed after the death of his father while Dhoni was depressed since he was initially not allowed to Pursuit his dreams of becoming a professional cricketer and was made to take up a job at the Kharagpur Station as a ticket collector. Sachin’s movie fluctuates from his past to his present showing clips of how he fell in love with his wife Anjali and got married while also highlighting his relation with his son Arjun and the big dreams he had for him. Dhoni too fell in love with an office consultant and lost her in an accident which pushed him back into a state of depression. After a few years finally he ends up with Sakshi Rawat and gets married. Both the movies end with India’s victory in the world cup, the nation goes wild and everyone dedicates the victory to Sachin's 24-year hard work for his country. It ends with an emotional moment of Sachin crying and bidding farewell to the pitch. After achieving everything he wished in his life, a proud Sachin walks by the beach thanking God. Even in Dhoni there was a feeling of nationalism when India won the cup. Even Sachin admits that winning 2011 world cup is the most beautiful moment in his entire career and Dhoni movie already dealt with that so beautifully. Popularity of the film greatly depends upon songs content in it.

While Dhoni's biopic had some really good songs, Sachin's biopic had None. But the difference in these two biopics were that Sachin’s was more like a documentary where he himself shared his life experiences with some clips of him enjoying. Dhoni’s life has two love stories, disagreements, his journey from a railway employee to world cup winning captain, love for bikes, unique look and so on. Sachin’s life is about a talented kid, who chiselled his talent further with immense hard work and dedication which was bound to make him the best in class, soft spoken, stayed off from controversies and had an ideal family The both of them faced many struggles to reach where they did, and that they are both very inspiring indeed. They show the lives of two great individuals, but they p ortray the both of them in very different ways. They show the public a side of the characters which they may not have necessarily seen or known about before, and are both fantastic films in their own right.
