SERI MENANTI Seri Menanti is the Royal Town of Negeri Sembilan, which lies 30 km east of Seremban. Folklore has it that Raja Melewar, the first ruler of Negeri Sembilan, came from Sumatra. On his arrival at the new land, he was so enchanted with the rolling green hills that he named it Seri Menanti, which means ‘an abode of serenity’. Thus, began the life of a royal town which even today, continues to delight visitors. At the foothills of the jungle-clad terrain, enveloped by the cool mountain air, lies an ancient wooden palace - the Seri Menanti palace. Rebuilt in 1908, after the original one burnt down, the Minangkabau-inspired Palace has now been converted into a Royal Museum.
