Product Overview This document describes the Battery Fuse Unit (BFU). The BFU is located in the power subrack.

1.1

Purpose The main function of the BFU is to supervise and disconnect or connect the battery backup.

Function Description

Function Description The BFU has the following functions: •

Disconnecting and connecting the battery backup from system voltage



Supervising the following:

0 0 0 0 •

Current Battery temperature System voltage

Disconnecting battery when:

0 0 0 0 0 •

Battery voltage

Discharging to pre-set battery voltage level Over current Battery over temperature Low battery voltage System voltage out of range

Charge current limiting (Prevention of excessive charging currents that can trip the circuit breaker.)



Remotely controlling disconnection of battery



Cold-starting

Figure 1 shows the block diagram of the BFU.
