Problem: What is the best form of insulation?

Hypothesis 

I think that if I will use wool for insulating then it will be best among the other insulators.

Experimental Design 

Controlled Variable 





Surface temperature (outside) Equal portions of water No. of bags and jars



Manipulated Variable 



Insulation (form of)

Responding Variable 

Inside temperature

Materials: 

Equal portions of every form of insulation (wool, flannel, hair, thermal insulation, chicken feather, cotton)

Materials:      

7 large plastic resealable bags Masking tape Tap water Canning jars with lids (7) Refrigerator Thermometers

Procedure: 



1.) Insert 1 type of insulating material into each plastic bag. Must be equal. One bag is empty as for control 2.) Boil water and put in 7 jars with equal amounts

Procedure 







3.) record the temperature of each jar. 4.) Put all in refrigerator. 5.) Leave for an hour 6.) Measure the temperature again
