John Bennett-1 was born on 1800 in Ireland[1, 2]. He married Catherine Bennett. She was born on Abt. 1800 in Ireland[2]. She died in Not alive in 1860. Notes for John Bennett: Found in the 1860 Westmoreland Census living next to son, Thomas. He was listed as a farmer. Notes for Catherine Bennett: Not found in 1860 Town of Westmoreland Census. Catherine Bennett, B: 1830 in Ireland[1]. Notes for Catherine Bennett: Found with her father in the 1860 Westmoreland Census living with her father next to brother, Thomas.

Generation 2 2.

Thomas J. Bennett-2(John Bennett-1) was born on 1823 in Ireland[3, 4]. He died on 23 Mar 1891 in Utica, NY[5]. He married Catherine W. Welch Bennett on 1851 in Near Albany, NY, daughter of John Welch and Ellen Welch. She was born on Bet. Mar 1832-1833 in County Kerry, Ireland[4, 6, 7]. She died on 17 Jun 1913 in Utica, NY[3, 5, 8]. Notes for Thomas J. Bennett: Died of heart disease. Died at 4 Gilbert St., Came from Ireland in 1851 according to his death certificate. He would have been 28 years old at the time. In the 1860 Westmoreland Census Thomas and the family was found. The family was found in Annsville in the 1870 Census. In the 1880 Census the family was living in Kirkland. The 1887-88 Utica Directory said Thomas lived at 19 Saratoga Street, 1889-90 he lived at 16 Kossuth Street, Utica and the 1891 directory listed his wife Catherineas a widow living at 16 Kossuth Street. Notes for Catherine W. Welch Bennett: Death certificate says she was born in 1838. 1865 Census and obituary indicate she was born in 1832. That would have made her 20 years old when her first child was born. Died of paralysis of heart and chronic myocarditis. The 1900 and 1910 Utica Census said she was born in March of 1833 and that she was 67 years old. It also said she had 13 children and 11 were living. Catherine came to America at 21 years of age and settled in Albany, New York. In 1881 she moved to Utica. Previously living in New York Mills. She was a member of St. Agnes Church, Utica, NY. Lived at 37 Buffalo St,, Utica at time her death. Children of Thomas J. Bennett and Catherine W. Welch Bennett are:

Andrew T. Bennett, B: 14 Jul 1858 in Coxsackie, NY[14], D: 21 Oct 1946 in Utica, NY[8, 15]. Notes for Andrew T. Bennett: Andrew died of Mortus Cardio. He never married. He worked for the NY Central Railroad retiring in 1926. He was a member of St. Agnes Church. His residence at time of death - 1311 Bleecker Street, Utica, NY. The 1860, 1870, and 1880 Census said he was born in 1858. Records from the church said he was born in 1854.

Catherine E. Bennett Lenegar Taylor, B: Apr 1859 in Westmoreland, NY[16], D: 08 Jan 1932 in Utica, NY[17], M: 05 Apr 1899 in St. Patrick's Church Rectory, Utica, NY[18]. Notes for Catherine E. Bennett Lenegar Taylor: Catherine died of intestinal hemorrhage. She lived at 1311 Bleecker St., Utica, NY at time of death. She was a member of St. Agnes Church.

Thomas J. Bennett Jr., B: 23 Oct 1861 in Westmoreland, NY[8, 13], D: 03 Dec 1899 in Marquette, Michigan[19]. Notes for Thomas J. Bennett Jr.: Marquette, Michigan death record said Thomas was single, age 38, born NYS, died of Chronic septic infection and his occupation was a lumberman. It listed his parents as Thomas Bennett and Catherine Sullivan. St. Mary's cemetery record said he died of consumption. He moved to Michigan in May of 1899. He had been in the hospital for five months before he died. Co. G 203rd NYS Vol. (Military) Obituary - Thomas died at St. Mary's Hospital, conducted by the Sisters of St. Francis, at Marquette, Michigan where he had been taken after cutting his knee while at work in the woods. His brother received the following from the hospital "Your brother died about 1:30 Sunday morning. He went to holy communion Saturday. He received several times while he was here. He was anointed about two weeks ago. He had been gradually growing weaker, at the same time he thought he could get home. The very day that he thought he would be able to start he had to go to bed. Since then he never got up to stay. He was so happy when he got the money to go home. He thought if he could only get home he would get well. The doctor said he would never get well here or at home. I felt sorry that he could not get home to die. We did not think he would die quite so soon. He changed very suddenly Sunday morning. He did not seem to notice anyone just then. I felt sorry for his poor mother. She will miss him more than anyone else. But he was well prepared. If he should have lived for a while he would have been no comfort to himself or anyone else with such a cough. I hope his poor sole is at rest."

Martha J. Bennett Rasher, B: 29 Oct 1865[22], D: 01 Dec 1892 in Utica, NY[5, 8]. Notes for Martha J. Bennett Rasher: St. Mary's church records says she died Dec. 2, 1892. Obituary said December 1, 1892. Martha came up from NY City to stay with her mother for six weeks and then passed away at her mother's home. She was conflicted with consumption. She has resided the past two years in NY City since her marriage. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in NY City.

Frank D. Bennett, B: 23 Sep 1867 in Annsville, NY[23], D: 12 Dec 1935 in Utica, NY[5]. Notes for Frank D. Bennett: Frank died from paralysis agitus. He never married. He was educated in public schools in Annsville and came to Utica with his parents as a young man. For years he had worked with various construction companies on road building work. He was a member of St. Agnes Church.

David F. Bennett, B: 20 Apr 1870 in Glenmore, Oneida County, NY[8, 9], D: 11 Feb 1913 in Utica, NY[8, 24]. Notes for David F. Bennett: Died of abscess of lungs. He had been ill for several months. Also listed as Daniel F. Bennett according to St. Mary's church records. David came to Utica as a young man in 1885. He was a candy maker by trade, but more recently had worked at the bowling alleys run by his brother William Bennett at Hibernian Hall. He had a large circle of acquaintances and was well liked wherever known. He was a member of St. Agnes Church and its Holy Name Society. He never married.

Edward Bennett, B: 18 Nov 1870 in Annsville, NY[21], D: 18 Dec 1947 in Rome, NY[17]. Notes for Edward Bennett: Edward died of coronary thrombosis. He never married. He had worked for the NY Central Railroad and was a member of St. Agnes Church. He was the last to die in the family. His residence at time of death was 1311 Bleecker St., Utica, NY.

Margaret C. Bennett Hazelton, B: 14 Jun 1872 in Westmoreland, NY[15], D: 18 May 1946 in Utica, NY. Notes for Margaret C. Bennett Hazelton: Died of pulmonary tuberculosis. Lived in Saranac Lake probably at the tuberculosis hospital.

Ellen Bennett Dwyer-3(Thomas J. Bennett-2, John Bennett-1) was born on 21 Sep 1852 in Coxsackie, NY. She died on 04 May 1937 in Utica, NY[5, 8]. She married Patrick J. Dwyer on 28 Jul 1871 in St. Peter's Church, Rome, NY[8], son of John Dwyer and Mary Murphy Dwyer. He was born on 17 Mar 1846 in Grave Manor, County Wexford, Ireland[8]. Descendants of John Bennett Generation 3 Died of myocarditis. Buried Section 2, Lot 131 Ellen lived in Taberg at the time she was married. Ellen lived at 407 St. Anthony St, Utica, NY at time of death. She was a member of St. Agnes Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of AOH and the Daughters of Liberty. Notes for Patrick J. Dwyer: There is a Veteran's flag on grave. Patrick worked for the Savage Arms. Lived in Taberg in his younger years, then moved to Clinton for 20 years and 27 years in Utica. He died of a heart attack. He was a member of St. Agnes Chruch. In the 1880 Census he was married and living in Kirkland, NY. 1910 Utica Census, Ward 8, said he lived on Buffalo Street and that he worked as a machinist at Iron Works. The 1910 Utica Census, Ward 8 showed Patrick living on Buffalo St. and had two extra small children living with them labled as step-children - Edward T. age 8 and Catherine A. - age 6. He had a sister Margaret Dodge mentioned in his obituary who lived in Clinton when he died.

(Mame) Dwyer Reddick: Funeral from Blessed Sacrament Church. Doyle Funeral Home. Member of St. Agnes Church. First president of Oneida Co. Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Attended school in Franklin Springs, NY. Lived at 116 Prospect Ave., Ilion, NY at time of death.

Thomas Edward Dwyer, B: 21 Jun 1875 in Franklin Springs, NY[25], D: 20 Jun 1939 in Utica, NY[5, 8]. Notes for Thomas Edward Dwyer: Thomas died of coronary thrombosis. He lived at 198 Roosevelt Dr., Utica, NY at time of death. He had worked for New York Central Railroad. He was a member of St. Agnes Church and it's Holy Name Society. In the 1900 Utica Census, he was living with his parents and was listed as single. The 1910 Utica Census, Ward 8 said he was listed as a trucker and a widower. He was living with his parents. Thomas was a widower in the 1930 Utica Census and lived with his mother.

John David Dwyer, B: 26 Dec 1876 in Waterville, NY, D: 07 Feb 1922 in Utica, NY[8, 15], M: Oct 1898 in St. Agnes Church, Utica, NY[20]. Notes for John David Dwyer: Obituary says he was born in Waterville, NY. Died of peritonitis. Lived at 793 Mary St, Utica, NY at time of death. Member of St. Agnes Church and it's Holy Name Society. Worked as a barber.

William Henry Dwyer, B: 24 Jun 1879 in Franklin Springs, NY[8, 26], D: 10 Aug 1949 in 1208 Conkling Ave., Utica, NY[8], M: 11 Apr 1917 in Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, NY. Notes for William Henry Dwyer: William H. Dwyer became a member of the Fire Department on June 1, 1930 and served at the Central Fire Station, Engine Six and since 1945 had been stationed at No. 10 Fire House, North Utica. Ellen M. (Nellie ) Dwyer, B: 31 Aug 1881 in Kirkland, NY, Oneida Co., D: 19 May 1954 in Utica, NY[8, 15]. Notes for Ellen M. (Nellie ) Dwyer: Died of heart disease in her home, 18 Auburn Ave., Utica, NY. Nellie never married. She had a boy friend who was a life long batchelor. She worked for the Utica Knitting Co. She had attended Utica Schools and was a member of St. John's Church.

Martin J. Dwyer, B: 13 Jul 1883 in Franklin SpringsFranklin Springs, NY, D: 06 May 1965 in Utica, NY[8], M: 30 Sep 1907 in St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden, NY[27]. Notes for Martin J. Dwyer: Information taken from obituary. Martin worked for Niagara Mohawk. Boonville Herald - April 22, 1909 --Mr. & Mrs. Martin Dwyer have returned to Utica after spending the winter with Mrs. Dwyer's parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Murray.

Katherine E. (Kitty) Dwyer Schiffler, B: 20 Dec 1885 in New York State [28], D: 13 Jul 1963 in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Utica, NY[8, 13], M: 1922 in Utica, NY. Notes for Katherine E. (Kitty) Dwyer Schiffler: Katherine had no children. The 1910 Utica Census, Ward 8 said she was a winder and worked in a cotton mill. Her obituary said she had retired from Lynch & Kelly, Inc. as a saleslady. They specialized in furs. She was a member of St. Agnes church. She lived at 511 Ontario Street, Utica at the time of her death.

Patrick Francis Dwyer, B: 24 Apr 1887 in Utica, NY[26], D: 12 May 1975 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, NY[8, 13], M: 23 Jun 1914 in St. Agnes Church, Utica, NY. Notes for Patrick Francis Dwyer: In the 1910 Utica Census, Ward 8 he was a laborer and worked for Typewriter Works. He lived in Camden in 1915 Census. The 1890 Utica Directory said Patrick was living at Centre Corner Wetmore and his occupation was a spinner. In 1891 he lived at 9 Nichols St., Utica, NY. At the time of his death, he lived at 38 Maple Road, Baldwinsville. He had been a firemen from 1923 to 1957, when he retired. He had lived in Utica for 78 years before moving to Baldwinsville in 1965. He was a member of St. John's Church.

Florence W. Dwyer Doherty, B: 25 Feb 1891 in Utica, NY, D: 06 Aug 1944 in Utica, NY[8], M: 09 Oct 1912 in St. Agnes Church, Utica, NY. Notes for Florence W. Dwyer Doherty: God parents: Edward B. Burnch, & Anna Murphy Died of cancer She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church.

She died on 11 May 1924 in Utica, NY[29, 30]. Notes for John J. Bennett: John was educated in Coxsackie, NY and moved to Utica about 1897. He was employed by the Utica City Ice Company, retiring in 1927. He was a member of Church of the Blessed Sacrament. John was living with his daughter and her husband in the 1930 Utica census. Nellie B. Bennett Williamson, B: 08 Oct 1894 in Utica, NY[8], D: 27 Mar 1959 in 1536 Taylor Ave, Utica, NY[8, 29]. Notes for Nellie B. Bennett Williamson: Nellie was educated in Utica schools and the Utica School of Commerce. For years she had been employed by the Burroughs Adding Machine Company as a instructor in use of the machines in this area She later worked in the office of Dr. Philip L. Turner. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and a past president of the Auxiliary of Utica Post 229, American Legion.
