Fat necrosis
Firm, tender, indurated, ill-defined mass Formed by damaged and disintegrating fatty tissues. Typically occurs in obese women with very large breasts. Physiological swelling and tenderness Nodularity
Conclusions women with fibrocystic breast disease or other benign breast conditions are more likely to develop breast cancer later only if a breast biopsy shows "atypia" or abnormal breast cells.
Conclusions
Risk factors for breast cancer after the diagnosis of benign breast disease include the histologic classification of a benign breast lesion and a family history of breast cancer. However, all breasts lumps must be investigated to rule out breast cancer and/or to begin immediate treatment if breast cancer is diagnosed.
