Benazir Bhutto Tragedy

Tragedy Benazir bhutto assassanated Pakistani former Prime Minister , Benazir Bhutto, was assassinated on Thursday. She was in Rawalpindi, which is seen as one of the country’s most secure cities. Ms Bhutto was leaving an election rally when a gunman shot her in the neck and chest, and then blew himself up. Benazir Bhutto was the leader of the opposition, and was campaigning for the elections, on January 8th. President Pervez Musharraf declared three days of mourning and ask Pakistani people to remain calm. But he hasn’t been heard. People have had two kind of reactions : sorrow or anger. Cars were set on fire in several cities. In Peshawar, north-west Pakistan, policemen used batons and tear gas to break up a rally by protesters. They were chanting anti-Musharraf slogans. Security forces were placed on a state of “red alert” nationwide. In a national televised speech, President Musharraf blamed Islamic extremists for Bhutto’s murder. He added that he would redouble his efforts to fight terrorists. “I have been saying that the nation faces the greatest threats from these terrorists. … We will not rest until we eliminate these terrorists and root them out.” Pakistan was already going through troubles, I don’t think killing people is the way to peace. Now the questions are how Musharraf will bring peace back between Pakistanis, and can the elections take place as planned before Bhutto’s death ?
