Place the fresh linen on the client’s chair or overbed table, arrange the trolley for bed bathing Inform client for hair washing

Check water temperature



Wash hair and allow water drainage from the hair washing basin to the bucket Dry the hair with hair dryer and comb the hair neatly

Prepare warm water for bathing and check the water temperature

Inform client for bed bathing Remove clothes Pay attention to the IV drip if necessary Ensure adequate warmth of the client Clean the face and body of the client Change the bed sheets if needed Put on the clothes Clean the lower part of the body Remove the straps on the napkin Check the skin integrity of the exposed area

Wash the perineal area of the clients with cotton wool swaps from the front to the back and thorough dry the area Roll up the front side of the napkin Assist the client to turn to the lateral position Expose the buttock area of the client and check the skin integrity Ensure adequate warmth Thoroughly clean up the fecal elimination with the cotton swaps and thoroughly dry the area Apply the zinc oxide cream as protective barrier if necessary Change the drawsheet or the linen if soiled Remove and discard your gloves and wash the hands if soiled Put the new napkin in correct position

Lie flat the client and adjust the napkin (**avoid any shearing force, roll the client back and forth if need to adjust the position of the napkin)  Check the rims of the napkin to avoid any irritation to the skin of the thighs  Assist client in dressing  Roll out the bed sheets

Roll all soiled linen inside the bottom sheet and put in linen hamper Bed making Turn the client to a comfortable position (please refer to textbook) Pull up the side rails Provide client with the call bell Elevate the head of the bed if there is no contraindicated Hand hygiene
