BARRIERS TO COMMUNICATIONS Physical barriers like noise,time and distance. Semantic barriers. Wrong medium of communication. Psychological barriers like closed mind,status consciousness,attitude, ego,values. Barriers resulting from inactiveness, faulty transmission or poor retention.

Barriers due to information gaps or due to lack of information. Barriers resulting out of difference in perceptions,outlook,approach. Barriers resulting from illiteracy,ignorance and superstition in a country like India.

LACK OF COMMUNICATION LEADS TO: Information gap. Alienation. Problems in relationship. Misunderstandings. Crisis situations. Deviation from performance

Loss of trust and confidence. Emergence of organisational conflicts. Birth of organisational politics or it increases. Disintegration.

TEN PRINCIPLES OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION Reminder that communication is o two way process. Be sure of what you want to communicate and why. Provide the right attitude. Be clear in the use of language. Listen attentively.

Speak to the point and avoid communication garbage(irrelevant communication). Be sure your actions do not contradict your communication. Use right medium. Remember the various barriers to communication. Avoid mental blocks,closed mind,ego problems. Desire to communicate is the essence of communication.
