OBJETIVOS Geral: A compreensão arqueológica das expressões religiosas no mundo nórdico antigo. Específicos: O estudo e análise das fontes materiais, dos conceitos, das teorias e das metodologias arqueológicas envolvendo os estudos da religiosidade no mundo nórdico antigo.

The primary sources (literary, visual and material). The theories. The methodologies and approaches to academic research. The interpretive controversy. Research topics. OBJECTIVES: General: The archaeological understanding of religious expressions in the Ancient Norse World. Specific: The study and analysis of material sources, concepts, theories and methodologies involving archaeological studies of religion in Ancient Norse World. CONTENTS: 1. Sources, concepts and methods on Old Norse Religion. 2. The materiality of the rite in Viking Age Scandinavia. 3. Image, space, symbolism: monuments and norse myths. 4. Cosmology and world view: the archaeological evidence. 5. Beliefs, funerals and burials in the Old Norse Area: the Archaeology of Death.
