½ Day of School
It is now April. As they say April showers bring May flowers!
Upcoming Events
April:
Thursday, April 25th
We couldn’t be more proud of our students reading 300 books! Even though March is Reading Month is over, we still would like for students to continue reading daily.
Kindergarten Round Up (Schroeder Only): Wednesday, April 10th @ 6:30 p.m.
May:
Wednesday, May 15th
Students will continue writing their last names when signing in and learning how to pronounce their last names. Please continue to work with your child at home on how to correctly pronounce his/her last name. Also, at home encourage your child to learn his/her home address and phone number. Prior to students entering kindergarten, we are asked if they know these things.
Tornado Drill: Friday, April 12th @ 2:05 p.m.
Students have been writing the numbers 19 – 21 on the message board and have been stating the number poems. This month they will learn to write the numbers 22 – 24.
No School April: May:
Monday, April 1st Tuesday, April 2nd Wednesday, April 3rd Thursday, April 4th Friday, April 5th Friday, April 19th
Monday, May 27
We will continue to implement our new writing program called Writer’s Workshop while continuing to follow the HighScope Curriculum. We will continue to modify it to meet our student’s needs. Students will be learning how to stretch and sound out words in order to form sentences. We are using invented spelling when it comes to writing the words down. Also, we are helping students to memorize some sight words. We encourage them to try their best and to not give up when they stumble upon a hard word. Encourage your child to work on these strategies at home, too! A fun day picture order form was sent home. This will be taking place on Thursday, April 18th. It is optional. If interested, please complete the form and return it back to me or complete it online.
