Appeasement

By Luke Crowcroft and Matthew Geer

What is Appeasement? Appeasment is a way of solving somethings but it doesnt always work as people get gready and want more. Appeasemnt is where you give somebody somethink to aviod fighting but they are not allowed any more but in some cases people want more and they take it this is when somebody should step in and stop them from getting what they want. The oldest situation of appeasemt is Hitler and Chamberlain as Hitler took something and Chamberlain said take any more and we will declare war on you, he took more but when he got to Poland he took it a step to far and Britain declared war with him and that was the out break of world war 2.

Background to appeasement • Hitler want to take over Czechoslovakia because he wanted to be able to defend his borders. • Hitler also wanted to take over Czechoslovakia because the population of Germany was growing and Hitler wanted more Land.

Reasons for Appeasement. There are many reasons for which people use Appeasement on a small scale or a large scale. One reason that people use Appeasement is to aviod war and not to fight. They aviod war by giving who ever what they want and telling them take any more we will have to fight, but in some cases people take more and it then happens again they say take and more we will fight and this cycle keeps on going. However people sometimes try taking more and suffer the consiquences of fighting.

Reasons against Appeasement. • Gave Germany time to strengthen their armed forces. • If Britain and France would not intervene over Czechosovakia, unlikely they would take any action to defend other threatened countries. • Naive policy - Hitler had made clear his aims to conquer Eastern Europe. • Hitler became more aggressive as he felt Britain would not take action.

The different veiws on Appeasment People have different views on Appeasement, some people think it is a bad idea and other think it is a good idea. People who think it was a good idea because they thought the idea was good at the time. People who thought it was a bad idea because they didn't want the out break of world war 2 and as Chamberlain experienced world war one he didn't want another.
