OUTSTANDING ASDF MEMBER OF THE YEAR PROGRAM By Order of the Governor: Official: Charles C. Rowe MG ASDF Commanding Summary. This Policy sets forth policy and guidance for the Outstanding ASDF Member of the Year Program. Applicability. This regulation applies to all components, elements, detachments, units and personnel of the Alabama State Defense Force. Supplementation. Supplementation of this regulation is prohibited without prior written approval from the Commander, ASDF. Suggested Improvements. Suggested improvements, which may be considered for this regulation, should be forwarded in writing to the proponent agency of this regulation, the Office of the ACofS J1, Ft. Taylor Hardin 1600 Northeast Blvd, Montgomery, Al. RECOMMENDATIONS: Proposed changes and suggestions should be forwarded through channels to Headquarters, ASDF. Intermediate commanders may not disapprove proposed changes. PURPOSE: This policy establishes policies and procedures Outstanding ASDF Member of the Year Program. This regulation is effective upon receipt and supersedes all previous instructions.

Chapter 1 Purpose. To establish an Annual Outstanding Member Award that would recognize outstanding performances by ASDF members in six separate categories: 1. Enlisted Member (PFC) 2. Junior NCO Member (CPL-SSG) 3. Senior NCO Member (SFC-CSM)

4. Warrant Officer Member (WO1 – CW5) 5. Junior Officer Member (2LT - CPT) 6. Senior Officer Member (MAJ – MG

Scope. This policy applies to all personnel assigned or attached to the Alabama State Defense Force.

Chapter 2 It is every leader’s responsibility to ensure our soldiers are properly trained and prepared to complete their assigned mission. Establishing Annual Outstanding Member Award to recognize volunteers, who excel in the performance of their assigned mission, would be beneficial for both the individual and the Alabama State Defense Force. There will be only one winner selected for each category, each year.

Chapter 3 Procedures: BATTALION LEVEL: Identify nominees, complete nomination form and forward the form to their respected Brigade, NLT 5 December of the following year. BRIGADE LEVEL: Consolidate all forms and forward the forms to the state J-1, NLT 12 December of the following year. STATE LEVEL: a. A board at the level would consist of a minimum of (5) members and would select the winner of each category. b. Winners would be announced and their names would be printed in the Quarterly State Newsletter and on the State Website c. Members selected for this prestigious award will be recognized at the annual Christmas Gala with a framed certificate.

AUTHORITY This policy shall not be changed, amended, or supplemented without written approval from the Alabama State Defense Force Commander. The effective date of the regulation shall be the same as the date accompanying the signature.
